#ICYMI Our investee The Gentle Group recently secured S$2 million in follow-on funding from Heritas Capital’s Asia Impact First Fund (AIFF), and with our co-investment to build on their growing traction in the #dysphagia space in Singapore as well as the region. The Gentle Group is a Singapore-based #foodtech startup that has developed texture-modified, pureed food for communities suffering from dysphagia, or swallowing difficulties. The fundraise is intended to increase its production capacity and it recently opened its 7,600 square feet central kitchen to do just that. This is also in line with Singapore’s Ministry of Health's objective of implementing the International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI). We were also happy to see a collaboration between our portfolio companies, with AlterPacks providing sustainable tableware for The Gentle Group’s food, which was served at their opening event. This partnership underscores both companies' dedication to advancing social and environmental impact by offering more digestible food options for dysphagic patients while using up-cycled materials. In collaboration with Nanyang Technological University Singapore (NTU), LightHaus Photonics Pte Ltd, National University of Singapore (NUS), Temasek Laboratories @ NUS, and ST Engineering, Aliena Pte Ltd recently unveiled ELITE ( Extremely Low Earth Imaging Technology Explore), Singapore’s first low orbit satellite built and equipped with Aliena’s engine, and is set for launch in mid-2025! At an altitude of just 250km above Earth, ELITEf aces significant atmospheric drag. Aliena's fuel-efficient engine is specially designed to combat these harsh conditions, ensuring stability and enhancing the satellite's ability to capture high-resolution images and gather critical data. Aqualita Ecotechnology has successfully harvested and sold its first batch of jade perch at local fish stalls! Launched in November 2023, the container farm is Singapore’s first fish farm located in a heartland estate. It exemplifies how urban farming can thrive in land-scarce Singapore and contribute to Singapore’s “30 by 30” goal by helping build a more resilient and sustainable food future. XSQUARE Technologies’ intelligent warehousing solutions are further taking shape as it recently secured S$10.5 million (USD$7.8 million) in a funding round led by our partner Wavemaker Partners with participation from Goldbell Group. The new funding will fund XSQUARE's regional expansion, bolster product development and enhance operations, as it continues to help its clients optimise their warehousing operations with greater efficiency and precision through automation. XSQUARE’s clientele includes Coca-Cola, GSK, and Katoen Natie, and it has recently partnered with Mitsubishi Logisnext Asia Pacific (ML), one of the world’s largest material handling equipment companies. This collaboration focuses on developing a new line of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) using XSQUARE’s existing products through ML’s global distribution network. Commenting on this, Kaixin T.
