McLaren Racing fans were certainly in for a treat this F1 season! In partnership with McLaren Racing, Airwallex unveiled a mind-bending 3D perception shift sculpture of F1 driver Lando Norris last week at Singapore 39 Art Space. It marked the launch of Airwallex's global ‘Shifted Perspectives’ campaign, which builds on its multi-year partnership with McLaren Racing. Created by renowned artist Michael Murphy, the sculpture symbolises the shared vision of Airwallex and McLaren: by shifting perspectives, businesses can unlock new ways of solving problems and achieve their full potential. “What does it take to craft an award-winning campaign?” 🏆 …was NOT the question we set out with. But I still remember the moment I was invited to share with the Hilton APAC Comms team RICE’s perspective on the evolving Asian consumer landscape and media trends, especially as travel was bouncing back post-pandemic. It began with a weekend of binge-watching Bling Empire… and the sheer curiosity to unpack the psyche of APAC’s Next Gen. From the booming popularity of Genshin Impact, Simu Liu’s induction to TIME 100, to Michelle Yeoh being Everything Everywhere All at Once, the zeitgeist has been pointing to Asia’s moment in the sun! ☀️(Let’s not forget Pixar’s Turning Red) What does this mean for travel? The cultural insights got us thinking about the desire to connect more deeply with one’s roots through travel. Further insights were gathered from 4,000 respondents across China, Japan, India, and Singapore. Collaborative brainstorms with Daphne Tan and team led to the birth of “The GenerAsian traveller” as we spotlight their pride in heritage and its expressions in food, design, and culture. Against the sea of surveys on travel, the Hilton APAC Trends Report’s focus on the #GenerAsian traveller cut through and started a wave of national headlines throughout the region — from China, India to Japan, Malaysia, and Vietnam. This was followed by the GenerAsian Conversations, a salon at Conrad Singapore Orchard’s award-winning Manhattan Bar, bringing together not just media editors and journalists, but also culinary and design tastemakers, industry partners, and more. So, to win the SABRE Award for Multicultural Marketing at last night’s #SABREAwardsAP (a personal first — a daesang moment like for SVT #iykyk), it took insights on the cultural pulse; deep trust and synergy between client and consultants, without which nothing is possible; and more than anything, the collective hard work, determination, passion, and grit of a team of stars: Charlotte Tan who dove headlong into the campaign and ran with it alongside Ken Chionh, Christa Y., Isabelle Chia, Alecander Ong, and more who supported them — Gillian Clare Pinto, Magel Ordoñez, Yingzhi Bai, Matthaeus Choo, among others.
