Despite widespread support for sustainable development and strong demand for impact investments, the impact investing market – potentially worth up to USD26 trillion – is yet to fulfil its potential as several challenges are hampering its development. These challenges include uncertain financial returns, an absence of common impact assessment standards, the paucity of investment options and so on. REDEX was honoured to be invited by PETRONAS Ventures to participate in Experience Ventures, which was held on 10 July 2024 at the Mandarin Oriental in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.   Experience Ventures brought together industry experts, thought leaders and technology enthusiasts to support the PETRONAS #energy #transition strategy. The event showcased PETRONAS Ventures wide array of investments, connecting start-ups and adopting technologies for potential collaboration with PETRONAS’ business units.   During the event, REDEX Founder and CEO Jen Wee KANG had the opportunity to take the stage to share more about our #innovative technological solutions that are accelerating the global transition to #netzero.   We are immensely grateful to PETRONAS Ventures for organising the event and inviting start-ups in its ecosystem – such as REDEX – to be part of the programme. We are excited to contribute to the PETRONAS energy transition strategy and look forward to deepening and broadening our existing collaboration. Learn more about our REC solutions at www.redex.eco. Traditionally, market investments are seen as distinct from social and environmental causes. The former is concerned with financial returns while the latter supports #social and #environmental goals and are funded by philanthropic donations without the expectation of financial returns. #Impact #investing, however, offers opportunities for investors to invest in projects and causes that not only support social and environmental goals, but also earn financial returns. In this blog post, we will be exploring the reasons why impact investing is gaining prominence: https://lnkd.in/g77QANnr #renewableenergycertificates #renewableenergy #REC #cleanenergy #impactinvesting #impactproject #impactREC #energytransition

Southeast Asia, home to a 700 million population, is one of the world’s most vulnerable regions to #climate #change. What are the climate risks imperiling businesses in Southeast Asia and how can corporates #decarbonize to mitigate these risks?   To address these issues, REDEX and Roland Berger jointly organized the webinar “Greening Corporate Landscape – Insights and Outlook on Decarbonization in Southeast Asia”. The webinar delved into Southeast Asia’s sustainability landscape, focusing on #decarbonization and #renewable #energy. REDEX Founder and CEO Jen Wee KANG contributed insights about renewable energy certificates (#RECs) and how they can be a pillar of corporate sustainability strategy. As RECs trace the production of electricity to a renewable source, they are a foolproof tool for companies to account for their Scope 2 emissions. In addition, the traceability of RECs allows them to be used to prove claims of products being manufactured from green energy. This means that RECs can play a significant role in the decarbonization of #supply chains and management of Scope 3 emissions, enabling corporates to make giant strides to achieve their #green energy targets and accelerating the global transition to #netzero. A big thank you to Roland Berger Partner Dieter Billen for his insightful contributions on climate risks and the state of #sustainability in Southeast Asia. We are also grateful and honoured to partner Roland Berger and contribute to the knowledge and practice of corporate #sustainability. Last, but not least, we thank the attendees for their support and hope they found the session useful. REDEX was honoured to contribute insights at the The I-REC Standard Conference (ISC) 2024 held on 2nd and 3rd July 2024 in Sao Paulo, #Brazil.   Organised by the The International Tracking Standard Foundation: Founder of I-REC, ISC2024 provided a platform for industry experts and key opinion leaders to share knowledge and data on tracking and attribute markets, and advance the use of I-REC(E) globally.   REDEX Founder and CEO Jen Wee KANG shared his expertise and thoughts at the panel discussion entitled “Aligning the Industry: Corporate Accounting & Market Boundaries.” He touched on how companies and countries may adapt to evolving accounting standards and overcome market boundaries. Using #Singapore as a reference, Jen Wee provided insight into how the island-state created a novel regulatory framework to advance corporate and national #decarbonisation goals by allowing entities in Singapore to procure RECs from other Southeast Asian countries.   During the panel discussion on ‘Advancing the I-REC for Electricity,’ REDEX COO Chee Yong Lee shared insights into REDEX’s innovative technological solutions across three key pillars: Trade, Trace, and Trust. Chee Yong emphasised how REDEX collaborates with its partners to foster a dynamic Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) trading ecosystem, offering exchange and auction functionalities. Additionally, he highlighted the simplified distributed solar onboarding process and the strategic role of I-REC(E) certificates in promoting green hydrogen, time-stamped battery RECs, and green metals adoption.   A big thank you to the I-TRACK Foundation for hosting a successful conference! We are grateful to have the opportunity to contribute to the REC community, establish new connections, and strengthen our collaborations with Latin American partners NORMEX and ECSIM at the event.   Find out more about REDEX and our REC solutions at www.redex.eco. REDEX is pleased to announce that it has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with NORMEX and Fundación ECSIM. The MoU were signed on 2 July 2024 at the The I-REC Standard Conference (ISC) 2024 held in Sao Paulo, Brazil. REDEX Founder and CEO Jen Wee KANG signed the two agreements on behalf of REDEX while NORMEX President of the Board of Directors Enoch Castellanos Ferez and ECSIM Director Diego Gomez represented their respective organisations.   NORMEX is the accredited Issuer of I-REC(E)s in Mexico. It is a Mexican leader in standardisation, testing, inspection, and certification services. Created in 1992 as an independent standardisation and certification body, NORMEX is recognised by Entidad Mexicana de Acreditación A.C. (ema) and by the Secretaría de Economía, as well as by different government entities, to carry out standards, audits, inspections, and laboratory tests, under the requirements of national and international standards.   ECSIM is the accredited Issuer of Issuer of I-REC(E)s in Colombia. It is a non-profit entity directed by a group of researchers committed to building more humane, developed, integrated and peaceful societies. ECSIM carries out consultancy and social, economic and financial studies, with high quality standards, which contribute to the design of public policies, increased competitiveness and a better understanding of the determinants of social, economic and business development.   With the MoU, the signatories aim to expand mutual #collaboration and pave the way to increase the adoption and issuance of I-REC(E) in #Mexico and #Colombia by creating and deepening the pool of liquidity in REHash, REDEX’s RECs exchange. REDEX will also work with NORMEX and ECSIM to develop a vibrant marketplace/trading exchange for all I-REC product codes in their respective markets. The MoU underscore the growing influence and importance of I-REC(E) in global #REC markets, and signify the influence of the The International Tracking Standard Foundation: Founder of I-REC in shaping REC markets and the ecosystem.   About the MoU, Jen Wee said, “The Memoranda of Understanding with NORMEX and ECSIM affirm REDEX as a premier one-stop REC solutions provider globally. By joining forces with both organisations, REDEX is well-positioned to offer our innovative technological solutions to the growing Latin America market and support the decarbonisation efforts of Mexico and Columbia.”   In March 2024, REDEX signed a similar MoU with Instituto Totum to expand adoption of I-REC(E) in #Brazil.
