When 47-year-old Mohd Kamsani Ab Hamed was delivered a grim diagnosis by his doctor, he decided to triumph over adversity and turned towards volunteerism. Besides purchasing groceries for low income families, he takes time to befriend and care for fellow dialysis patients, urging them to continue treatment when they feel discouraged, telling them, “Don’t give up now. Dialysis is our lifeline, so keep pressing on!” Kamsani’s joy in giving creates a lasting impact on everyone he helps. He chimes, "I enjoy helping others without expecting any return. I’m happy as long as the people I’m helping are happy too." Experience the joy of giving by donating and helping patients like Kamsani lead a meaningful life despite the challenges they face! Azlan Samat is a cheerful gentleman who has been receiving treatment at NKF for the past 1.5 years. On top of juggling dialysis with a full-time job in the shipping industry, Azlan keeps himself busy with the activities under the Renal Rehabilitation Programme. Prone to having cramps during treatment, he keeps himself moving by following NKF's exercise videos. He also takes part in nutritional and exercise workshops and activities organised by the Allied Health team. Azlan's motivation to stay active and self-empowered has led him to become one of the many lucky draw winners of the recent Lifestyle Rewards event! On International Self-Care Day today, we hope that our patients will continue their self-care journey - a healthier life is the most valuable reward we can give ourselves! #NKFsg #selfcare #NKFRenalRehabilitation #GivingLifeandHope

Ever wondered what it’s like to travel while on peritoneal dialysis (PD)? Yvonne gives us a glimpse of her PD treatment during her trip to South Korea! “Travelling on PD is definitely possible! Just be sure to maintain hygiene and cleanliness. Don’t let kidney failure hold you back – live life to the fullest!” ✨ Tips for PD patients travelling abroad: 1. Consult your doctor before planning any trips 2. Arrange flights and accommodation after speaking with your doctor and confirming logistic arrangements 3. When travelling with others, encourage them to wear masks if they are near you during your exchanges, especially if they're feeling unwell #NKFsg #peritonealdialysis #sgdialysispatient #travel
