Why You Need a Strong COO - Even When You Think You Don’t   Attention to detail is everything in business. Even the smallest hiccup can lead to a poor customer experience, damaging your brand's reputation and in this case impacting your customers.   Take the recent The Business Show Asia in Singapore as an example. When I first heard about the event in July, I was intrigued and thought it could align well with my work at NimbleBridge, COO as a Service - facilitating controlled investment - fostering sustainable growth. I registered through their website, which redirected me to their EventBrite registration page, and received an instant confirmation. So far, Excellent!   But then, things started to unravel. Over the next few months, I received multiple generic emails from at least four different show employees advertising this trade fair and why it is good for for me to register, despite my prior confirmation. Even after replying to clarify, the same person sent reminders stating they had not heard from me. Don't you hate automated generic emails and automated follow ups?   Fast forward to the day of the event at Marina Bay Sands Expo. After navigating the confusion of which floor the event was on, I was met with a massive queue. Despite registering in advance, I found out that the registration process had changed, and I had to sign up again - adding to the frustration.   This entire experience underscores a critical point: Effective operations management is not just a luxury; it's a necessity. A strong COO would have ensured a seamless registration process, clear communication, and a well-organized event that leaves attendees and exhibitors with a positive experience, not frustration.   Don't let operational inefficiencies hold your business back. If you’re aiming for excellence, make sure you have the right operational leadership in place.   If you look to expand your business into Singapore, or you have a small business, you do not need a full time COO. I offer you a factional COO from as little as 15 hours a month, a Local SID Accredited Director and full compliance for your Singapore Business. NimbleBridge, COO as a Service - facilitating controlled investment - fostering sustainable growth is your partner to success. Drop me a message here, or on our website for a chat on how we can help your business to grow and be more effective. https://lnkd.in/djKxaTqJ

The last week has been exceptionally engaging as I attended the inaugural Climate Governance Singapore Forum, organized by the Singapore Institute of Directors. This event provided a platform for thought leaders and industry experts to discuss crucial topics surrounding climate governance and sustainability. One of the highlights was meeting Dr. Amy Khor, Singapore’s Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment, Singapore. We had a fascinating exchange about the Netherlands' longstanding use of deposit schemes for bottles, a practice dating back to the 1950s. Initially focused on glass bottles, the scheme has evolved to include plastic bottles and, since 2017, even small bottles and cans. Singapore is making commendable progress in implementing a similar scheme by 2026, with significant steps already taken towards its success and constantly keeping in mind how the program can be an asset and not a cost burden to consumers. Dr. Khor, having visited the Netherlands, has seen firsthand how effective this program can be. KPMG provided valuable insights into Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) taxation and tax governance. They emphasized the importance of ensuring companies do not exploit tax loopholes by having entities in lower-tax jurisdictions, highlighting how BEPS regulations aim to close these gaps. Another critical topic on the agenda was carbon taxes for large companies and the role of carbon certificates. A panel discussion featuring participants from ACRA - Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority and Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and other market players revolved around compliance and the importance of reporting. It was emphasized that reporting is not merely an administrative task but a tool for gaining valuable insights. The day concluded with a fireside chat moderated by my friend Shai Ganu, featuring Dr. Amy Khor as the guest of honor. I am always impressed by how the Singapore government sets ambitious goals, such as achieving net zero emissions by 2050 as part of our Long-Term Low-Emissions Development Strategy. On how to get to those targets the communication is open and clear and can be found at https://lnkd.in/g_XvEXPT A special mention goes to Terence Quek, CEO of the Singapore Institute of Directors, who captured the lunch moments with his renowned selfie skills. Sustainability is at the core of our future, and it is imperative for directors and board members to ensure their organizations are actively contributing to this cause. As a Singapore accredited director, sustainability is one of the eight core competencies I uphold. If you are seeking a responsible and accredited local director or board member for your non-listed subsidiary in Singapore, I would be delighted to have a conversation with you. Together, we can build your Singapore business with managed costs, low risk, and a strong foundation for success.

⚠ Why Nominee Directors in Singapore Pose Risks to Your Business ⚠ In Singapore's regulated business landscape, Local Directors are mandatory for ensuring compliance and governance. However, the use of nominee directors, or "silent directors," can jeopardize businesses' integrity and sustainability. The Illusion of Nominee Directors: Nominee directors fulfill the statutory requirement of having a local director but lack real involvement in company management. Just fulfilling the legal requirement is not the goal that ACRA - Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority had in mind with this rule. The convenience of a Local Director only in name is likely to come at a steep price for both the individual and your business! Risks of Non-Compliance: Nominee directors overseeing multiple companies compromise their ability to ensure compliance, exposing the company to potential sanctions. Mismanagement by a nominee director can lead to operational disruptions, reputation damage, and financial penalties. The Solution: Proper Directorship Appoint a qualified/accredited local director to provide comprehensive oversight. Through NimbleBridge I offer a Singapore Institute of Directors-accredited Local Director, ensuring adherence to the highest corporate governance standards. My services include a Local Managing Director, Registered Data Privacy Officer, and Fractional Operations Director ensuring you have a compliant and fully operational business in Singapore! Conclusion: Relying on nominee directors exposes your business to significant risks. To build a sustainable business in Singapore, engage a director committed to diligent oversight and governance. Contact Nimble Bridge to navigate Singapore's business environment with expertise and integrity. I am a strong advocate of "work from anywhere." From my posts, you've seen me presenting on a stage in Bali and Bangkok. I've even worked while in the hospital (ok, that might be a bit questionable), and today, I'm in a gelato salon in Singapore, enjoying ice cream and coffee. Allowing employees the flexibility to work from home or remotely usually boosts their productivity by providing a comfortable environment. Of course, some employees may struggle with this freedom, which is where people skills come into play. Additionally, some jobs are inherently location-based and require on-site presence. As a qualified director, understanding how to motivate your team and maximize their potential is crucial for business success. Human Capital is one of the eight pillars of the Singapore Institute of Directors Qualification to be an Accredited Director. Are you considering opening a subsidiary in Singapore and need a qualified Local Director to actively contribute and manage your operations? Contact me through my company, NimbleBridge, COO as a Service - facilitating controlled investment - fostering sustainable growth. I can provide you with a fractional offer that helps you grow. #WorkFromAnywhere #Leadership #Productivity #Singapore #BusinessGrowth #RemoteWork #NimbleBridge #COOService #COO

I am thrilled to share an exciting personal and professional milestone — I am now an Accredited Director recognized by the Singapore Institute of Directors (SID). This accreditation was only recently launched to address issues around the competencies of being a Director in Singapore, and I am proud to be part of the second group of accredited Directors. This accreditation covers all aspects expected of a Director: Governance, Duties and Practices, Financial Proficiency, Risk Management, Strategy Development, Digital Proficiency, Human Capital, and Sustainability. From starting my career in the Netherlands at the age of 16 to now being accredited as a Director in Singapore by the SID, this accolade underscores my professionalism and competency as your Local Director for your Singapore business. My work represents my commitment to excellence and a pledge to uphold the highest standards of integrity, accountability, governance, and ethical board leadership. I look forward to engaging with fellow directors and stakeholders, sharing best practices, and driving positive change within our boards and beyond. As directors, we often have a clear understanding of who our stakeholders are, yet there is no universal definition of a stakeholder. This morning, I attended a session on stakeholder collaboration organized by the Singapore Institute of Directors. One of the panelists, Huey Tyng Ooi (IDP-C), encapsulated the definition of a stakeholder perfectly: "it depends." Stakeholders and stakeholder management are critical in the journey to success. For some, stakeholders are investors; for others, they are customers, employees, or the community. Are you a business looking to expand into the Asia Market? I can help you identify and manage local stakeholders, ensure your business compliance, and provide operational support to establish your foundation in Singapore. This allows you to concentrate on growing your customer base while de-risking your investment in the expansion. What makes a good Director? Did you know that in Singapore, every Private Limited company needs to have at least one local director? But simply fulfilling the legal requirement does not guarantee you a good director. While there are many nominee directors available for a fee, it's important to trust that they can manage the director's duties while having hundreds of companies registered to them. Most nominee directors do not take their responsibility and only lend you their name. At NimbleBridge, we understand the importance of having a trustworthy, qualified and reliable director to keep you out of regulatory trouble. We help set up and operate your business, ensuring that the compliance role of the director is taken seriously. Additionally, we serve as your local presence and handle all your local needs to ensure success. As a member of the Singapore Institute of Directors and a qualified Project Management Institute professional, I offer commercial acumen and proper advice, rather than just trying to make a quick buck. Trust us at NimbleBridge for all your start up needs. do you want to expand into the Asia market and setup a business in Singapore?
