Earlier this week, Parliament passed 3 Bills to strengthen Singapore’s corporate regulatory framework and anti-money laundering regime. 💪 ⬇️ Read on to find out more!
Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, Second Minister for Finance and Second Minister for National Development
Protecting privacy, increasing transparency and stepping up anti-money laundering Yesterday in Parliament we passed the following Bills: • The ACRA (Registry and Regulatory Enhancements) Bill (“ACRA Bill”); • The Corporate Service Providers Bill (“CSP Bill”); and • The Companies and Limited Liability Partnerships (Miscellaneous Amendments) Bill (“CLLP Bill”). These 3 Bills are aimed at strengthening our corporate regulatory framework and anti-money laundering regime. The ACRA Bill: • strengthens data protection; • facilitates digital communications between the Government and businesses; and • enhances the regulatory framework for entities overseen by ACRA. The CSP and CLLP Bills are aimed at improving transparency and preventing corporate vehicles and nominee directorship arrangements from being misused for money laundering or other illicit purposes. For more details, see my Second Reading speeches in the links below. Big huge thank you to the MOF and ACRA teams who worked tirelessly behind the scenes on these Bills!
