Complementing this is a great workplace where companies are lauded for having outstanding employment practices and organisational cultures. To achieve this vision, our mission is to improve the skills and productivity of the Singaporean workforce as the basis for better jobs, higher incomes and a secure retirement. We will judiciously supplement our workforce with foreigners, such that they strengthen the Singaporean core. The Report on Wage Practices 2023 was released today. Wages continued to grow, albeit at a more moderate pace compared to 2022: 🔷 Real wages grew by 0.4% in 2023 after accounting for inflation, similar to the increase in 2022 🔷 Nominal wage growth slowed from 6.5% in 2022 to 5.2% in 2023, although it remained higher than the range seen in non-recessionary years 🔷 The proportion of profitable establishments remained high, and a majority continued to provide wage increases to their employees The Government encourages all firms to implement the Flexible Wage System to give them the flexibility and responsiveness to adjust wages based on their performance. Achieving work-life harmony can be challenging for employees, especially so for new parents or families welcoming a new addition to the family. As a father himself, Mr Lee Kang Hui, Providend’s Head of Group Finance & People, encourages his employees to utilise the Enhanced Government-Paid Paternity Leave, which enables eligible fathers to enjoy up to 4 weeks of leave. Providend also conducts quarterly check-ins to help them address challenges transitioning into fatherhood and its impact on their role. To foster a supportive and inclusive workplace culture, Providend offers hybrid work arrangements, flexi-time options, and elderly care leave on top of the enhanced paternity leave.

From improved productivity to better employee retention, there are many benefits that come with supporting employees requiring parental leave. For eligible working fathers of children born from 1 January 2024, they now have their Government-Paid Paternity Leave (GPPL) doubled to 4 weeks. As an employer, you can voluntarily grant these 2 additional weeks of GPPL to respective employees who may wish to spend more time caring for their children. These will be reimbursed accordingly by the Government.
