Today marks Thomas Tam's last day as our Marketing intern, completing his credit bearing #internship at NUS Business School. Over the past three months, Thomas has dedicated himself to a daily 3-hour commute from his home to Pioneer Crescent. What motivated him to intern with Booksmart Distribution, a new online distribution channel within Markono Group? Was the long daily commute worthwhile? Let's hear it from him:   “When I took on this internship, I initially thought I might ‘lose out’ to those interning at MNCs, which is the goal for most of my peers. But it turned out to be an invaluable experience, far exceeding my expectations! I was in a unique position to be in the 'start-up’ environment of Booksmart , while also being connected to the more established Markono Group, which gave me enriching learning experiences.   Being in a small, 5-man team for Booksmart allowed me to explore the full spectrum of marketing. I was involved in B2C marketing - engaging with Key Opinion Leaders, analysing sales data from online seller platforms, improving website UI alongside developers, and creating an online marketing campaign from scratch. I also delved into B2B sales, creating sales materials and visualizations. I even delivered my very first sales pitch to a potential customer! (It was nerve-wrecking!) The best part was seeing all my efforts come to life, providing me with valuable hands-on experience.   With Booksmart as a subsidiary of Markono, I also gained insights into the complexities of working within a larger organization. I had the chance to join meetings with the Markono Logistics team and I could appreciate the intricate coordination required between the departments. It opened my eyes to the bigger picture, learning how the different departments work together from start to finish, from blank sheets of paper to a freshly printed book at your doorstep!   Lastly, I am grateful to have my mentors Benjamin Koh and Ryan Tan, who were invested in my learning, always involving me where they can and providing opportunities far beyond the internship job description. They were also willing to listen to my ideas and try them out, giving me the ultimate learning experience of doing and seeing the results for myself. I am also thankful to work alongside Shawn Wong, MSCS and Crystal Wong whose guidance and assistance I greatly benefited from during my internship. So here is my answer: It was well worth the long commute!”

It was a blast at our inaugural Markono Group Sports Day!   On Friday, May 17, 2024, we gathered at ActiveSG Taman Jurong for an action-packed Captains Ball tournament. With 48 players across 8 teams, the competition was fierce, but the camaraderie was even stronger.   It was amazing to see everyone stepping out of their usual roles, cheering each other on, and having a great time together. We connected on a different level. Events like these remind us why Markono is such a special place to work. They foster goodwill and promote the close-knit culture we’re so proud of.   This event was organized by a committee of employees from different departments, led by one of our heads of department. Their hard work and collaboration made this fun afternoon possible.    We work hard, and we play hard! Looking forward to more fun and unity in the future! #worklifeharmony

We embarked on a digital technology transformation journey some 15 years ago.  In our smart purpose-built facility, we have integrated advanced technologies to streamline demand planning, printing, warehousing, and fulfillment, complemented by an e-commerce platform, offering a comprehensive suite of services to many leading global publishers.  We are now looking to innovate with GenAI to support our new phase of growth.

IMDA's inaugural Digital Transformation Industry Day was marked by an extraordinary gathering of over 140 industry frontrunners. This groundbreaking event ignited vibrant discussions led by influential C-suite panelists from SMEs to MNCs on #digitalleadership, #transformation, #emergingtech, #innovation, and #sustainability.
