A beautiful example of the Atayal culture's richness was witnessed when a group of Atayal students, on a learning journey in Italy, encountered a Japanese couple posing for photos in front of a grand cathedral. Seizing the moment, the students formed a choir and sang a traditional Atayal song as a blessing for the couple. The surprise and joy on the couple's faces spoke volumes about the power of cultural expression. This spontaneous act not only showcased the beauty of Atayal music but also highlighted the importance of keeping such traditions alive. However, this shift has resulted in the erosion of local dialects and languages, which embody unique cultural identities and traditions. In places like Hong Kong, Cantonese not only serves as a common dialect but also as a symbol of the region's distinct culture and heritage. Similarly, in Singapore, the various dialects are intricately woven into the fabric of the country’s multicultural society, celebrated through food, festivals, and daily life.
