PT JCB International Indonesia, and Sunway Healthcare Group, have signed an MOU to drive medical tourism to Malaysia. The agreement was signed in an event held in Jakarta by Takumi Takahashi, President Director of PT JCB International Indonesia and Dr Chow Huat Khoo, Managing Director (Hospital and Healthcare Operations) of Sunway Healthcare Group. The collaboration was facilitated by Hiroko Michishita, Managing Director of JCB International Asia Pacific (JCBIAP), who oversees operations in Singapore and Malaysia. The collaboration will extend beyond JCB’s card base in Indonesia to JCB’s global card base of 156 million members.   Takumi Takahashi commented, “Malaysia is one of the most important destinations for JCB cardmembers in Indonesia for various purposes. Leisure, retail and healthcare are the key categories that are driving significant growth in JCB transactions internationally, including Malaysia. The collaboration with Sunway Healthcare Group is excellent as it caters to all levels of JCB Indonesia cardmembers’ needs for an end-to-end premium wellness service for our affluent cardmembers.”   Hiroko Michishita added, “JCB cardmembers will find Sunway Medical Centre’s services compelling, augmented by Sunway City’s excellent mall and entertainment options, together with theme park and hotel experiences. The 17th JCB World Conference, a JCB biennial event interrupted by the pandemic, resumed in Okinawa, Japan on 25 and 26 October with over 300 participants from 186 companies. Mr Sopnendu Mohanty, Chief Fintech Officer of the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), and Mr Joel Tay, CEO of Soft Space from Malaysia were amongst the participants who shared insights on the evolution of payment through digitalisation. ‘Bringing content to the world through Metaverse and other technologies’ was the other segment related to building business models that utilise Japanese content. The keynote speaker, Mr Joichi Ito, Co-founder, board member, and chief architect of Digital Garage Inc., and President of Chiba Institute of Technology, spoke on “The Emerging web3 World Order”. This was preceded by the Opening Remarks by Ms Hiroko Michishita, Managing Director of JCB International Asia Pacific with jurisdiction over Singapore and Malaysia.
