In Singapore's move to become a trusted data hub for innovation, it is essential that we focus on enhancing artificial intelligence (AI) governance and creating a more supportive ecosystem for businesses. During her opening address at Personal Data Protection (PDP) Week 2024, Minister for Digital Development and Information, Mrs Josephine Teo, unveiled Singapore's initiative to expand the Privacy Enhancing Technology (PET) Sandbox. The expansion includes integrating generative AI to develop robust privacy solutions. These advancements enable businesses to safely harness data for AI development, with IMDA engaging industry stakeholders to establish guidelines. Additionally, she introduced a proposed guide on Synthetic Data Generation, emphasising its role in enhancing AI and machine learning training datasets by addressing challenges such as data scarcity and bias. At the PDP Seminar, panellists explored strategies for using secure data to enhance business operations and cultivate a reliable environment for AI solutions to thrive. As AI systems become more prevalent, the role of Data Protection Officers (DPOs) will also evolve to ensure compliance with data protection laws. The event underscored Singapore's leadership in data innovation and showcased practical measures for safeguarding data. Protecting our people against scammers is part of our ongoing efforts at IMDA. From 1 July, you can opt to block international calls and SMSes, respectively, to reduce your risk of receiving them. Simply reach out to your respective telco (Singtel, M1 Limited, StarHub or SIMBA), and get them to activate the separate features for you free of charge. Once activated, you can only receive calls and/or SMSes made from Singapore numbers (depending on the feature activated), including Singapore users roaming overseas who are calling or texting home. If you are travelling, you can choose to disable the blocking feature(s) - a simple step to ensure you are good to go! Our Digital for Life (DfL) movement is gaining incredible momentum as we expand our network of partners, dedicated to helping Singaporeans embrace and leverage digital technology, leaving no one behind as Singapore progresses towards a digital future. More than 300 partners have come onboard, collectively supporting over 400,000 beneficiaries. We are honoured to have President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Patron of the DfL movement, grace our DfL Partners’ Appreciation Event to celebrate this achievement, alongside Minister for Digital Development and Information, Mrs Josephine Teo. We are proud to acknowledge 12 exceptional partners as DfL Champions including Amazon, AiSP (Association of Information Security Professionals), Cisco, Cognizant, DBS Bank, Google, Huawei, Lions Befrienders, Micron, Singtel, Standard Chartered, and UOB for their outstanding contributions. Additionally, we also recognised 38 DfL Catalyst Partners this year for their sustained commitment to strengthen our collective efforts towards digital inclusion. As we face ongoing challenges in online safety, like AI-generated deepfakes, we invite more partners to join us in developing more resources and programmes to empower Singaporeans to navigate the online space safely. Together, we can make a difference. https://lnkd.in/g3GMuUw7 #IMDA #IMDigitalArchitect #DigitalForLife

At IMDA, we strive to create a fun and inspiring workplace for our people. Our recent our #BringYourKidstoWorkDay event was a fantastic opportunity for our team members to bring their kids to work and give them a glimpse into the world of digital innovation. More than a great place to work, we want IMDA to be a place where we inspire the next generation of Digital Architects. Kids had a taste of their parents’ workday at IMDA through many fun activities: 🔸Carnival food, games and a variety of workshops 🔸Higher-level coding with block-based coding robotics workshops to foster computational thinking 🔸Augmented Reality (AR) activities where kids learn how AR interacts with the real world using physics and dynamics 🔸Content creation workshop to give young creators a peek into the ins and outs of the media industry, pick up production tips and create a TikTok video 🔸A journey of creativity and wonder to take young explorers a magical experience and leave them in awe 🔸An exploration of the kids’ artistic skills using industry-standard software and iPads to bring their artistic visions to life 🔸Cinematic movie screening and more! See all the fun we had and we can’t wait to do this again next year! #IMDA #IMDigitalArchitect #IMDAkids
