Soo Yee LEONG is a senior business executive with a proven track record in scaling business, organisation transformation, marketing and leadership development across diverse regions and firms. She loves Vanilla ice cream & she recently trekked the Himalayas. We asked Soo Yee to tell us about one of her most gratifying coaching stories: “One coaching relationship that remains etched in my heart involves a manager with abundant technical knowledge and experience. This individual was passionate about contributing to their organisation’s transformation project but lacked confidence and effective communication skills. Over six months of focused coaching, we prioritised personal well-being, confidence-building, and communication with various stakeholders. Witnessing this client step into their greater self empowered by a new mindset, volunteer their expertise, and engage in open, challenging conversations to steer the project toward smooth implementation was truly remarkable!”

Sim Peng Thia, CFA, MBA is a proven leader in the Finance sector and a respected leadership coach with 1,300 hours under her belt. She’s a Boy Mom. She’s binging 3 Body Problem on Netflix these days. We asked Sim Peng to tell us about one of her most gratifying coaching stories: “ I coached someone who was a newly promoted team leader. He inherited diverse characters as he navigated the journey from IC to people manager. We spent a lot of time talking about stakeholder management and I clearly remember his breakthrough moment, when he realised what this meant and how he could apply this skill in his day-to-day role. My coachee entered this virtuous cycle, where he built his confidence and felt like he belonged in the leadership meetings with his peers and higher-ups. We started to ‘dare to experiment’, where he would put himself out there with new behaviours and bring them back to our little ‘laboratory’ to dissect and improve. It was so satisfying when his manager shared the candid feedback that he’d been stepping up in his new role, providing value-add insights and strategic perspectives during their interactions. He also received feedback that his conversations with his team members were more open and authentic. It was one of my favourite co-creation processes with a coachee, helping him succeed in a new role!”

Commercial & Partnership Director at Hupo | we build passionate, high-performing people

Privileged to spend the morning yesterday at the magnificent JLL office in Singapore, kicking off Hupo ‘s partnership with Elliott Scott HR with a series of roundtable discussions with HR Leaders. Facilitated by Lee Murphy & 1 of our world-class coaches Li'er Wong our discussion centred around 1) culture and leadership including - how to quantity culture & convince senior leadership that this is an area to invest in - how to scale culture across different teams & regions (hint: by having a strong manager lead those teams, so that the appropriate set of behaviours are celebrated & penalized) 2) AI's impact on the labour market Thank you to everyone who spoke openly & for the valuable insights & to Paul Watson for bringing together a stellar crew. I definitely learned a ton. Ending this with 1 final thought: Culture, or conscious leadership for that matter, might be difficult to quantify, but if absent is glaringly obvious and the symptoms have visible bottom line impact. Looking forward to the next one! DM me if you’d like to be involved.
