Time to test your knowledge on the terms used in the world of Infrared! 1️⃣ Minimum spot size - The diameter of the smallest object for which an instrument can meet its performance specifications. 2️⃣ Neutral Density Filter - An optical or infrared filter for which the transmission is constant and not a function or wavelength. 3️⃣ Optical Resolution - The ratio of the distance to the target divided by the diameter of the circular (or spot) for which the energy received by the thermometer is a specified percent age of the total energy that would be collected by an instrument viewing a calibration source at the same temperature. Potentially lethal bacteria such as Listeria Monocytogenes have a critical interdependency on temperature. Getting the cook and chill process wrong could result in accelerated bacterial growth rather than the intended killing of bacteria. The use of a "through process" data logger monitoring the product temperature throughout the cook and chill process can be used to rapidly find the cause of an incorrect product exit temperature. In addition to compliance with HACCP guidelines, a "through process" profiler will help in establishing more efficient recipes, confirm effective corrective actions and support a quality system that is preventative rather than reactive. Did we tell you about the SoundMap™ Technology in the SV600 Fixed Acoustic Imager already? By using powerful SoundMap™ technology, the SV600 translates the sounds that it hears into a visual representation so that you can quickly locate and quantify problem areas. This provides facilities with further insights into product quality or safety concerns, as well as the ability to quickly detect changes across compressors, pumps, pipes, and more. To start visualizing the unheard and unseen leaks and other sound signatures, submit your interest at https://lnkd.in/gt6zZZPV to schedule a demo.

In the extreme heat of industrial environments, relying on a personal computer to monitor process applications can be a recipe for failure. The Fluke ThermoView TV30 thermal camera enables industrial teams to set up thermal imaging systems without the constraints of being constantly connected to a vulnerable computer. The TV30-SA model features an onboard web server, advanced analytics, and versatile connectivity. Here are 9 ways where TV30-SA can be utilized: ➡️ Copper Smelting Kilns ➡️ Steel Ladles ➡️ Enclosed Chemical Ovens ➡️ Industrial Cooking Ovens ➡️ Backlight Production ➡️ Ceramic-Lined Products ➡️ Vinyl Flooring ➡️ High-Carbon Steel Processing ➡️ Particle Board Manufacturing Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gP9AVE2V

Time to test your knowledge on the terms used in the world of Infrared! 1️⃣ Gray Body - A source of radiant emissions for which the emissivity is less than 1 but constant and, therefore, independent of wavelength. 2️⃣ IFOV - Instantaneous Field of View is the angular resolution of an imaging Field of View instrument that is determined by the size of the detector and the lens. For a point instrument the IFOV and FOV are the same. 3️⃣ Lead Selenide (PbSe) - A material used to make photon detectors that are sensitive in the 3 to 5 micron spectral band. These detectors require thermo-electric cooling and are used in IR thermometers, scanners, and imagers. Did you get these correct?

To produce any integrated circuit or circuit board, manufacturers must begin with a process called polysilicon growing. This application, which takes place in a large vacuum, sees several small, hairpin-shaped rods connected to a power supply and heated. Once these rods meet the appropriate temperature, gas containing silica is added to the process – allowing the rods to grow in diameter. After the gas is added, each rod must keep a consistent temperature throughout the entire process, which can take several days. As each rod increases in diameter the power must also be increased to maintain temperature; however, if the power is increased too much, the rods will melt, and the process must be stopped and started again. The Raytek MI3 digital pyrometer features multi-sensor design for OEM applications and process control in continuous non-contact temperature monitoring from -40 to 1800°C and offers lowest installation costs per measurement point due to multiple sensing head system design. Reach out to us at [email protected] for a further discussion on this application.

Wallboards have to stay within a very narrow bandwidth of moisture content during and after the production process to ensure the necessary chemical and mechanical characteristics for the final product. The TIP900 system is a comprehensive thermal imaging and noncontact profiling system designed to supervise the temperature of wallboards coming out of the oven. TIP900 performs real-time board temperature monitoring, defect detection and rejection, and dryer balance imaging. The thermal imager scans the entire board surface temperatures with more than 40,000 data points each second. This high level of resolution allows the system to automatically detect the most minor board quality issues. Failure Detection: -Over/under-dried boards -Paper blisters -Edge peel/end burns -Paper blows -Mixer voids and clumps -Belt splices -Overlapped boards -Cracks and bubbles Interested to find out more about the application? Manufacturing and processing plants have miles of high-pressure compressed air piping running through them. Aging lines, as well as routine wear and tear, lead to leaks, resulting in losses and increased costs. Companies have limited time and resources to check for leaks, so compressed air is literally slipping through the cracks. With automation, robots can complete a survey of compressed air lines effectively and efficiently. Acoustic imaging is a newer leak detection method that picks up audible and visual indicators of a leak. The SV600 Fixed Acoustic Imager can be mounted for various continuous acoustic imaging applications – including as a Boston Dynamics Spot® payload. And with the firmware 3.3 release for Spot®, the SV600 is fully integrated into the robotic system, making it the perfect partnership of convenience and functionality. Time to test your knowledge on the terms used in the world of Infrared! ➡ Deadband - Temperature band around the set point, wherein an alarm output or relay can not change state, thus providing hysteresis. ➡ Emissivity - The ratio of the energy radiated from a material's surface to that radiated from a blackbody (a perfect emitter) at the same temperature and wavelength and under the same viewing conditions. ➡ Fail-safe Operation - Should the instrument fail to detect the correct temperature because of a failure, the instrument output prevents overheating the process. How do Ratio Pyrometers work? A pyrometer is a type of thermal sensor used for measuring high temperatures of a surface, often in large furnaces or kilns. These devices measure the temperature of an object or surface from the thermal radiation emitted, also known as radiometry. There are many applications where a standard one-color pyrometer reads the temperature incorrectly and they include: ▪ Small objects (too small to fill the cone-of-vision) ▪ Dust, smoke or steam which obscures the line of sight ▪ Windows in the process that get dirty and are difficult to keep clean ▪ Emissivity of the product changes (due to change in alloy or surface condition) A two-color or ratio pyrometer, such as Endurance Series, can operate properly even with these problems and indicate the correct temperature.
