The labour market situation remained stable in the second quarter of 2023, despite a weaker economic outlook. In the Labour Market Report released by Ministry of Manpower today, our unemployment rates continued to remain low and retrenchments eased, after rising in the past three quarters. Notwithstanding, businesses and workers must continue to press on with transformation to upskill their workers amidst the economic uncertainty. I visited Dyna-Mac Engineering Services Pte Ltd, a specialist in the Marine and Offshore Energy sector, and was encouraged by their efforts to reskill their workforce to overcome manpower challenges. Dyna-Mac shared how their employees tapped on Workforce Singapore’s Career Conversion Programme to reskill themselves and take on new, redesigned jobs in sustainability, a growth area!
