On 4th till 6th July, our Baker Tilly management team travelled to Batam, Indonesia, for a memorable experience filled with fun, team bonding, and insightful learning during the Baker Tilly Management Conference 2024. The conference provided an excellent opportunity for us to strengthen connections, brainstorm innovative collaboration strategies, and share laughter. Of course, a conference in Batam would not be complete without some outdoor excitement! In true Baker Tilly fashion, we gave our all, cheering and competing enthusiastically during the team games finale. Kudos to the entire management team for showcasing exceptional team spirit! The growing sustainability disclosure requirements from regulators and increased stakeholder pressure in sustainability practices and reporting form a relatively new challenge that can be complex for businesses to navigate – especially companies that are new to ESG. In this article, our Advisory Partner and Secretary of the Board of Governors at The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Singapore, Nicodemus Tan, outlines the stages of implementing a holistic ESG framework and elaborates on the importance of effective governance, robust systems, and internal audits to mitigate risks and drive sustainable practices. This article was first published in the Q3 2024 issue of the SID Directors Bulletin, by the Singapore Institute of Directors.
