    We are at a pivotal moment and the world cannot afford for electrification to fail. The EU 2035 target for 100% zero-emission new cars is crucial to align all stakeholders toward sustainable innovation and future-proof investments.   Electrification is the single biggest action our industry can take to cut its carbon footprint. The 2035 target is crucial to align all stakeholders on this journey and ensure European competitiveness. We urge EU policy makers to focus on what actions we need to take to get there, rather than reopening legislation just agreed on.    The EU Green Deal has laid a solid foundation to curb emissions, while attracting long-term investment in Europe. With global EV competition intensifying, Europe must stay committed to the vision. Policy makers must avoid reopening legislation that could undermine this progress.   Volvo Cars has joined key industrial companies and organisations from across the automotive, clean tech, transport and energy ecosystem, to urge EU policymakers, to uphold the recently adopted car and van CO2 standards and maintain the 2035 target for 100% zero-emission vehicles.     Have you ever wondered how Volvo Cars develop its soundtracks? Dive into the music production of our latest Volvo XC90 campaign, featuring Frank Sinatra's classic, "That’s Life." This project presented a unique challenge: Sinatra’s original 1960s recording included all instruments played simultaneously, making it impossible to isolate individual elements. To honor this iconic track, we collaborated with Svenska Gramofonstudion and brought in skilled musicians to recreate each part separately. This allowed us to capture the depth and detail needed for high-quality production. The result is a soundtrack that enhances our narrative while respecting a significant piece of musical history.     In the wake of recent typhoon Yagi, the Volvo For Life Fund has sent rapid response funding to our global partner Save The Children. It will go towards the over 140 schools in northern Thailand affected by the typhoon, helping children return to learning as soon as possible. “This rapid response funding will go towards clearing and repairing schools, providing learning kits, and training community volunteers and teachers to provide mental health support for children returning to school after the disaster,” says Louise Thompson, who manages the For Life Fund. The Volvo For Life Fund is our philanthropic fund with the ambition to improve a million lives. Together with global and local partners, we focus on social and environmental initiatives to address challenges close to our company’s values. Through our global partnership with Save the Children International, the For Life Fund is helping to make sure that children can keep learning in an emergency, including through the provision of temporary learning spaces and emergency supplies. #SavetheChildren #VolvoForLifeFund #VolvoCars

    Our fully electric EX90 is designed to be the safest Volvo car to date and to take you where you need to go with zero tailpipe emissions. We document the climate impact of our new fully electric Volvo cars, and our life cycle assessment (LCA) reports are part of this transparency work. So far, we’ve published LCA reports for the Volvo EX40, EC40, EX30 – and now the EX90. One of our key findings in this report shows that if you’re charging the EX90 using a European average electricity mix, its carbon footprint is about 50 per cent lower than the XC90 mild hybrid, and about 20 per cent lower than the XC90 plug-in hybrid – cars that are similar in size but use different driveline technologies. Our EX90 LCA report highlights the fact that electrification is critical to reducing our emissions. We’ll be talking more about that, as well as our sustainability ambitions and climate impact at Climate Week New York next week. #VolvoCars #VolvoEX90 #LCA #Sustainability The numbers above and on the slides are based on a total driving distance of 200,000 kilometres and energy use according to Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP) results. Our engineers have been putting together cutting-edge technology to create a beautiful and well-integrated car: our new, all-electric Volvo EX90 SUV, which will continue to improve over-the-air and over time. But the work isn’t finished once the car is put together; we’ve also spent many days and nights pushing our new flagship to its limits. The EX90 has gone through intense testing to help ensure it works in all temperatures and climates: from the freezing cold of Northern Sweden to the scorching hot Arizona desert, as well as all the sweeping corners of our test tracks here in West Sweden. We have placed high demands on our new flagship, making sure it works for real people, in real life.

    The EX90 shines bright in the LA sun. We recently invited hundreds of automotive and tech journalists to test drive the new Volvo EX90 on the sun-drenched roads around Los Angeles, California. And judging by the reviews, they are very impressed with our fully electric flagship SUV. Among the things journalists seem to like the most about the EX90 are its comfortable and refined interior, state-of-the-art safety features, and advanced technology. They also appreciate the silent yet powerful ride, as well as the solid sustainability credentials. For example, British Top Gear writes that the EX90 is “as practical and cleverly designed as you’d hope from Volvo.” They even state that “the EX90 is the best electric family SUV available right now”. As we announced on our 90/90 Day in early September, the EX90 is ready and on the road: the first batch of our flagship SUV is being shipped to our retailers in the United States and Europe right now, and the first lucky customers will get behind the wheels of their new cars before the end of this month.     We’re bringing our next generation user experience to millions of Volvo cars worldwide.    With our new user experience in our all-electric EX90 and EX30 cars, we aimed to create a system that helps you go about your daily life with your car in a safe, focused and enjoyable way.    This user experience is now being incorporated into our new XC90 flagship SUV, too. But since it’s been designed from the outset to adapt and scale to fit different screen shapes and sizes, you don’t need to buy a new car to get it.     We will also deliver it to millions of customers who drive a Volvo car with Google built-in around the world - at no charge. During 2025, around 2.5 million customers around the globe will receive an upgrade on their Volvo cars built as early as 2020, with a simple over-the-air software update.    Our strategy is to make our cars better over time with regular over-the-air software updates. We can’t wait to make good on this strategy by bringing next generation technology to our existing customers.
