Recently, 30 dedicated Altano veterinarians from across Europe gathered at Sporthorse Medical Diagnostic Centre (SMDC) for the Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Days. 🩺🐴 This training program took place over three days and was full of insightful lectures covering clinical examination, anatomy, radiography, ultrasonography and more. Veterinarian, researcher, and horsewoman Dr. Hilary Clayton, BVMS, PhD, Dipl. ACVSMR, FRCVS is a legend. For over 40 years, she’s carried out research in the areas of locomotor biomechanics, lameness, rehabilitation, conditioning programs for equine athletes, and the interaction between rider, tack, and horse. Our latest case study is here! 🐎 Meet Notting Hill, a 14-year-old German riding pony with a history of knee joint issues brought to the vet with renewed lameness and performance issues. The Sleip app showed a mild asymmetry in his right hind limb, and was used to evaluate the effect of diagnostic analgesia, leading to a diagnosis of osteoarthritis in the small hock joint. Thanks to targeted treatment, Notting Hill is back on track and thriving. Special thanks to Dr. Michael Schoeberl for sharing his expert data with us.
