The SCC Arbitration Institute (SCC) provides dispute resolution services to the Swedish and international business communities. The SCC is part of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce since 1917 and has acquired extensive experience in dispute resolution over a period of nearly 100 years. The SCC was recognized in the 1970's by the United States and the Soviet Union as a neutral centre for the resolution of East West trade disputes. Also China recognized the SCC as a forum for resolving international disputes around the same time. Everything you need to know about SCC Express! SCC Express is the SCC Arbitration Institute's newest dispute resolution tool. It is faster than traditional arbitration but not as quick as an emergency arbitrator. The process involves parties requesting a neutral expert to review the dispute and providing written submissions and evidence. What issues are best suited for summary proceedings in arbitration? The SCC was one of the first arbitration institutions to include summary procedures in its rules. These can swiftly resolve disputes or material claims, enhancing efficiency. According to Lina Bergkvist from Zellberg Advokatbyrå AB, summary proceedings are particularly useful for isolated legal issues such as liability, lis pendens, res judicata, and quesstion whether a claim is time-barred. Summary proceedings should be applied early in the arbitration process for maximizing its benefits. Bergkvist predicts increased use of these proceedings, helping save time and costs in complex cases.
