Paul Stormoen, CEO of OX2, is interviewed in the leading daily Greek newspaper Kathimerini. OX2 entered #Greece in 2022 by investing capital and buying mature projects in the final stage of licensing, as well as developing greenfield projects. “Greece continues to show high demand for #fossilfree electricity to manage the #transition to climate-neutral energy, and there are great opportunities for OX2 to play an important role in this major transition,” says Paul. More #onshorewind power production in particular is needed, to ensure a better distribution of renewable energy production throughout the day. “Greece provides strong opportunities for onshore wind development. Our business is always local, and we have local teams, but we combine this with our global expertise and experience from twenty years of developing successful and profitable projects,” says Paul Stormoen. The rapids near the Niinimäki wind farm in #Finland provide habitat for the endangered brown lake trout. In connection with construction of the wind farm, we are taking measures to increase #biodiversity in the waters where the brown lake trout live. These measures include: 🔎 Conducting fishing surveys 🌊 Restoring the rapids Ahvenkoski and Mehtiönkoski to achieve more spawning area for adult trout and more suitable area for juvenile trout 🐟 Releasing the stocked juvenile brown trout in the rapids Climate change and large-scale biodiversity loss are two interconnected global crises that should be addressed jointly. That’s why we aim to develop #naturepositive wind and solar farms by 2030. This initiative is realized together with the local fishing community, Helen and Ålandsbanken Abp Wind Power Fund, Eltel, and Destia Oy. To achieve and maintain a diversity of species, a variety of habitats is required. At the Karskruv #windfarm in #Sweden, lost pastures have been restored to allow cows to graze on the land, because natural pastures promote #biodiversity: 🐮 Grazing animals spread seeds, trample up land where seeds can grow, and limit certain plants by eating them 🐝 A diversity of plants means the pastures can once again flourish, benefiting insects and birds that depend on them ☘ According to the WWF, natural pastures can have up to 40 different kinds of plants on one square meter Climate change and large-scale biodiversity loss are two interconnected global crises that should be addressed jointly. That’s why we aim to develop #naturepositive wind and solar farms by 2030. This initiative has been realized in collaboration with the landowner Sveaskog and the wind farm's owner Orrön Energy. We are proud to have signed an #assetmanagement agreement with ORLEN S.A. for three of their wind farms in #Poland, in total 49 turbines and a total capacity of 142 MW. OX2 will provide technical, commercial and financial management to ensure optimal asset performance of the wind farms. "We are happy to have been selected as partner to ORLEN Group for the asset management of these wind farms. As one of the largest managers of #renewable assets in Europe, we always give customers a tailored service and focus on optimizing the value of the assets. We look forward to a long-term collaboration with ORLEN Group," says Lars Bryngelsson, responsible for Technical and Commercial Management, OX2.
