Ideally in a partnership, both parties bring something new to the table. In this unique partnership with ABBA Voyage, we come from completely different industries, but share a pioneering spirit. “Two different worlds but still trying to do something that hasn’t been done before” says ABBA member Benny Andersson. “ABBA has never had a partner or a sponsor or any such thing because they never wanted that. But then this happened and suddenly we did want it because it was something else” says ABBA Voyage producer Ludvig Andersson. https://lnkd.in/daAQb_iZ

From the electrification of Scania trucks to the wind-powering of shipping - meet our new Head of R&D: Magnus Mackaldener! “I had decided to further contribute to the green transition and am convinced that the solution to climate change is technical" says Magnus MackAldener in the Oceanbird blog. “It would be crazy to not use the wind directly out on the sea for the vessel propulsion." #sustainableshipping #windpropulsion https://lnkd.in/dq7ZCQ-t

We're excited to announce a major milestone! Our team of innovators presented at the International Maritime Organization (IMO) headquarters in London, addressing the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) on our new wind propulsion ships. Hosted by Wallenius Wilhelmsen and Oceanbird, the presentation focused on: 🔹 Safety Challenges & Solutions: Wind propulsion brings unique safety challenges in maneuverability, stability, and navigation. We showcased innovative solutions to address these effectively. 🔹 Unified Standards: Developing IMO standards is essential to prevent varied interpretations by different flag states, classification societies, and manufacturers. 🔹 Clear Responsibilities: Clarifying roles between the MSC and the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) ensures better regulatory oversight and implementation. This presentation is a crucial part of our work to bring wind propulsion back to shipping, influencing international regulations for a greener future 🌍⚓️ Jon Tarjei Kråkenes | Niclas Dahl | Johanna Tranell | Hasso Hoffmeister | Wallenius Wilhelmsen | Oceanbird | DNV | Wallenius Marine AB | StormGeo | NCE Maritime CleanTech | UGent | National Technical University of Athens | Volvo Cars | KTH Royal Institute of Technology | Maritime at RISE

Our Site Manager Björn Ohlsson share what's happening in Landskrona!
On Tuesday and Wednesday this week we have successfully lifted, positioned and assembled the tilting base to the foundation sides. Precision work with heavy steel structures is not easy, but thanks to great Team work, everything went perfect 👍🏻 Thanks to Oresund Drydocks AB and PMK Marin & Industri AB for great cooperation! The tilting base, which enables the wing sail to fold to the deck, has arrived to our assembly site in Landskrona! Oceanbird´s Site Manager Björn Ohlsson is eager to install it on the foundation.
Today we received and unloaded our heaviest structure, the tilting base with a weight of 32 ton. It won't sit on the floor for a long time, assembly work is just around the corner :) Thanks Oresund Drydocks AB and PMK Marin & Industri AB for great cooperation!
