We are happy to announce our investment in Profundus AB, a pioneering start-up at the forefront of retinal imaging technology. This contribution is part of a 30 million SEK funding round, together with existing investor Gobia Enterprises. This investment will facilitate Profundus in advancing their regulatory efforts, enhancing production capabilities, and commercial launch initially in Europe and later North America. Our Investment Manager, Fred Wallenberg, stated, "Navigare Ventures is pleased to partner with Profundus on their mission to improve patient outcomes by early detection and treatment for those suffering from eye disorders. Over the long-term, we believe the company’s unique cell-level imagery technology has the potential to advance research in the ophthalmology field and other medical disciplines as well."

Why is CDL-Estonia’s team grinning? We witnessed stand-up science on stage. David Sonnek and Salla Franzén from Navigare Ventures delivered an engaging stage banter about the latest scientific breakthroughs. For instance, David linked the Nobel-prize winning research on black holes to the everyday use of Google Maps, making the concept of black holes practical!!! This connection lies in the precise positioning of GPS satellites in space, which uses stable astronomical objects like quasars as references. At the core of each quasar is a superpowerful black hole. They also discussed the concept of minus three apples ➖ 🍎 🍎 🍎 on the table, relating it to quantum physics and quantum computers. Their talk was an excellent blend of entertainment and education, helping us understand how some deep tech investors perceive scientific breakthroughs and applications. We regret that Nordeep didn't record it. This Tuesday Chalmers tekniska högskola hosted a lunch seminar, at Sveriges riksdag, to discuss Sweden's need for technical universities of international excellence to secure the country's future as an innovative nation. Our CEO, David Sonnek, participated in one of the two panel discussions of the day, together with Sara Wallin, CEO at Chalmers University of Technology Foundation, and Michael Treschow, Swedish industry leader and senior advisor at Wallenberg Investments AB.
