This week, Magstrom once again participated in the annual Utnarm career fair for engineering and science students at the Ångström Laboratory, Uppsala University. We humbly conclude that the turnout of students who would like to be part of our journey, supporting a renewable energy supply, just like last year exceeded all expectations. Over the past good year, we have hired no less than 7 students from Uppsala University who have stayed on full-time after graduation and been instrumental to our growth. Thank you to all of you who took the time to learn more about Magstrom and Active Magnetic Balancing® this week! We are very much looking forward to letting more students jumpstart their careers by taking a big responsibility early on and becoming an important part of our growth journey moving forward. On Thursday, November 7th, Magstrom will attend Uppsala University's engineering and science job fair, Utnarm. Our previous participations have proven to be fruitful in uncovering new, skilled talents for employment and master's thesis work. 🌏 Magstrom’s Exciting Journey in India with ISIA 🇮🇳🇸🇪   We are thrilled to share that our recent delegation to India within the India-Sweden Innovation Accelerator (ISIA) program was a great success. As delegates from Sweden, Jonas Listenius, CEO, and Rahul Chandran, Regional Business Development of Magstrom, had the opportunity to connect with numerous hydropower companies — our primary customers — along with several other industries in exploratory meetings.   The warm and encouraging responses we received from the industries have already paved the way for actionable next steps. This visit marks the first of three delegations within the 18-month ISIA program, and with valuable connections already in place, ISIA has set the tone for Magstrom to continue pursue its long term ambitions on the Indian market.   We truly believe that the ISIA program plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between bilateral business opportunities, and we are grateful for the platform it provides. Powering Sustainable Hydropower Development in Europe. On 11th October 2024, Eurelectric, the Federation of European electricity industry, and the International Hydropower Association (IHA) signed an MoU to boost policy and advocacy efforts for stronger regulatory support for hydropower technologies, placing hydropower and pumped storage at the heart of Europe's energy discussions. Attention has been directed to modernizing existing hydropower plants. 💡Until 2030, almost 25% of global hydropower investment will be spent on modernizing aging plants. For Europe and North America, this investment is forecasted to reach nearly 90%, as the International Energy Agency (IEA) reported. Magstrom’s Active Magnetic Balancing® technology is a game-changer in this scenario: better asset utilization over refurbishment and rehabilitation. This week, Rahul Chandran, Regional Business Development Manager, and Jonas Listenius, CEO of Magstrom, had the privilege of participating in a bilateral program between Sweden and India, facilitated by the Swedish Energy Agency, Business Sweden and the CII Godrej Green Business Centre. Magstrom held meetings with TATA Power, MAHAGENCO, Reliance Industries Limited, NHPC Limited, NTPC Limited, and GMR Group, and attended a workshop organized by CII for its member companies. Next week, the delegation will continue with three more productive days full of meetings with key players in the hydropower sector across India. We extend our gratitude to TATA Power, MAHAGENCO, Reliance, NHPC, NTPC, and GMR Group for the hospitality and fruitful discussions. 🌎🇹🇭 Last week, our team represented by David Gustafsson, Rahul Chandran, Jonas Listenius, and J. José Pérez-Loya met with Mr. PREEDEE CHOVAOBCHUEY and Mr. Siriratthana at the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) headquarters in Bangkok to discuss the benefits that Active Magnetic Balancing® brings to hydropower units. After the meeting, Mr. Preedee, José, and David traveled to the beautiful province of Tak to visit EGAT's Bhumibol Dam. There, they met with the EGAT team on-site and inspected some of the generators. Bhumibol Dam, with a 779.2 MW installed capacity, is the first multipurpose dam in Thailand. It is named after the former king His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, The Great, who graciously bestowed the name “Bhumibol Dam”. 🌎 This week the Magstrom sales team is touring South-East Asia to deepen the discussions with leading hydropower actors throughout the region.   First up was Vietnam Electricity (EVN), the national and only public hydroelectric power company in Vietnam. Jonas Listenius, CEO and Rahul Chandran, Regional Business Development Manager of Magstrom had the pleasure of meeting both with the central organization in Hanoi and one of EVN’s generating companies in Ho Chi Minh City.   Rahul Chandran, reflecting on the meetings and discussions thus far: “It is very satisfying to see how customers light up when they realize how the mechanical and magnetic balance correlate, and not least how much the magnetic unbalance in the generator amplifies the vibrations due to forces from the turbine or mechanical imbalance. Over the next 18 months, Magstrom will participate in The India-Sweden Innovations’ Accelerator Programme. The initiative is funded by the Swedish Energy Agency and runs together with their partners Business Sweden and the Confederation of Indian Industry of Indian Industries – Green Business Centre.   The programme is part of the intergovernmental cooperation between India and Sweden in new and renewable energy technologies. It aims to mitigate climate change by transitioning to clean energy in India. India and Sweden share the common objective of innovation and entrepreneurship as essential tools for boosting competitiveness and sustainable economic growth.   As one of three Swedish companies entering the programme this fall, Magstrom will make three delegation trips to India to explore the market, meet relevant business partners and investors, and receive export coaching from the Swedish Energy Agency, Business Sweden, and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII)   Rahul Chandran, Regional Business Development Manager at Magstrom, on participating in The India-Sweden Innovations’ Accelerator Programme: “We understand that the Indian hydropower industry is going through an ageing phase, so this is the right time for them to invest in Active Magnetic Balancing® and extend the service life of their generators.” Enhancing sustainability.
