⚠ Safety in focus across Gunnebo this year ⚠ All our production plants have been working hard to improve safety this year. This work is being driven by two important initiatives both created by Gilbert Koenders: The Gunnebo Safety Rules and the Gunnebo Production System. 🦺 The Gunnebo Safety Rules create a uniform minimum standard across all our production plants. These rules were adopted last year, and the implementation deadline passed recently in June.  🏭 The Gunnebo Production System, adopted earlier this year, is a systematic approach to improving our production and securing world-class processes. The system is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is #Health, #Safety & #Environment, which is being implemented starting in the first half of this year. “Everyone in the Gunnebo family is equally entitled to a safe and healthy working environment, which is why we cannot allow one factory to be less safe than the others. Finding innovative solutions to upgrading the safety of existing machinery is an important task now. The goal is to find the best way to meet safety standards while also maximising our productivity, so that we can continue to deliver the value our customers expect,” says Gilbert Koenders, Global Operational Excellence Manager, Gunnebo Safe Storage.

Today is World Youth Skills Training Day Our Upskill Trainee Programme enables recent graduates to continue developing their skills, an initiative that aligns well with #WorldYouthSkillsTrainingDay. The one-year programme matches trainees with buddies from our organisation to complete a project tailored to the background of the trainee and the needs of the Gunnebo business unit. “Upskill is the strongest way to create engagement within our workforce. It can surely help us maximise our potential to achieve our goals. I have benefited greatly from this training in London and also had the opportunity to network with various teams from across the globe,” says Sunayana P., Manager QHSE & Sustainability APAC, an Upskill participant from India. Trainees attend regular lessons from a prestigious business school and social gatherings where the trainee group meets to acquire new skills and share experiences. The most recent gathering in June brought together 30 trainees and buddies in London. The in-person module was highlighted by inspiring lectures by ESCP Business School professors and a safari activity in central London. Today we would like to celebrate the #personaldevelopment of the participants in our third edition of Upskill, who are currently working on their final assignment over the summer. This is an example of #LifeatGunnebo.

New interactive format a success for Strategy Days    On Sweden’s beautiful west coast, our board of directors and senior management gathered at Stenungsbaden Yacht Club for Gunnebo Strategy Days 2024 on 24 and 25 June.     This year, we wanted to try a more interactive format. Several workshops were held to deep dive into key topics. The sustainability and innovation workshops stood out for generating a high level of engagement and many great ideas.     “The new format helped to spark more engagement and knowledge sharing, making better use of the board’s expertise and experience,” says Stefan Syrén, CEO, Gunnebo.     The outcome of the event was praised by both the board of directors and Gunnebo attendees, who appreciated the new engaging format. Now we’ll be working on incorporating all the valuable input received going forward.

Research by EY shows that a human-centred approach makes transformations up to 12x more successful. Our CHRO Magdalena Patrzek-Suchecka reflects on why this calls for a psychologically safe environment where employees are encouraged to learn from perceived failures, share their ideas and feel supported by leaders. This type of environment is exactly what we strive to provide at Gunnebo. #LifeatGunnebo

CHRO Gunnebo Group. With Heart for the People, Mind for the Business

How do we feel at work when a project doesn’t go as well as planned? Is it a learning experience? Or is it a failure? Research by EY shows that employees tend to have more negative emotions than leaders after an underperforming transformation. Mid-rank leaders would, more often than employees, leave that wrong environment during the process - also to protect own name from being associated with poorly led change.  At the same time, a human-centred approach was shown to make transformations up to 12x more successful. When I saw this data, it made me think of the environment we create and what it takes to build the culture of psychological safety. A psychologically safe environment is what gives employees the support and encouragement to stay positive and get back on track, even if things don’t always go right. I wish everyone to experience an empathetic leader who believes in you. Her/his support will help you transform what is perceived as a failure into a success. #LifeatGunnebo is a learning More at: ey.com/humans Picture: family vacation at Faroe Islands 🇫🇴😉

With European Sustainable Energy Week seeing governments, companies and NGOs coming together to accelerate the move to renewables, we’re delighted to say that we’re already more than half way to becoming powered entirely by renewable resources, predominantly solar. In 2023, 55% of the energy needed to power nine of our sites across the globe* came from sustainable sources. Our Lavis, Italy production site is already using 100% renewable energy. We’ve also recently installed solar panels at our COMINFO, a.s. facility. These panels have produced approximately 47,439kWh of power since they became operational in the first half of 2023. All of these actions, and more like them, are helping us to reduce the impact of our energy usage as we progress to being a more sustainable business. Read more about European Sustainable Energy Week here: https://hubs.ly/Q02B9QG60 #EUSEW2024 #SustainableBusiness #Energy ------ *Our reporting scope is in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, for scope 2 we measure emissions from sites of over 20 employees included.

Nico from our German plant visits Suraj at Indian plant for OpEx knowledge exchange Nico Kundler, responsible for Operational Excellence (OpEx) at our Markersdorf, Germany, plant visited Suraj Nair, his OpEx counterpart at our Halol, India, plant in April. “One of the things I like at Gunnebo is that we can learn from other’s experience. While my experience in OpEx may not be as extensive as Nico's, I can quickly tap into Nico’s 13 years. The open culture across OpEx allows us to learn a lot from our colleagues and discuss a wide range of topics, and now I can’t wait to return the favor and visit Germany,” says Suraj. During the factory tour, three points from Halol stood out to Nico that he took inspiration from to make improvements in Markersdorf.  1️⃣ Highly visual labels for personal protective equipment (PPE)  2️⃣ Visual tool templates used in workstations  3️⃣ Ways of moving heavy parts on manufacturing line “I had been wanting to go to Halol and meet my colleague Suraj for years. Now I finally got the chance, and it was very helpful to see Halol’s line manufacturing processes in person. I highly recommend traveling to visit colleagues in other parts of the world to exchange knowledge,” says Nico. #LifeAtGunnebo #Gunnebo #GunneboSafeStorage Gunnebo India Pvt Ltd Gunnebo

Gunnebo Upskill in London for in-person module Last week, 30 trainees and buddies from the third edition of our Upskill graduate trainee program got the opportunity to meet in person for two days of training in London. “I have benefited greatly from this training in London and also had the opportunity to network with various teams from across the globe,” says Sunayana P., Manager QHSE & Sustainability APAC, an Upskill participant from India. The in-person module hosted at ESCP Business School London included inspiring lectures by top professors on topics linked to business skills. “The London module was a great opportunity to finally meet everyone in person, which is a completely different experience than the online courses,” says Antonello Zamboni, an electronic engineer and Upskill participant from Italy. Antonello especially appreciated the lecture on presentation skills by Peter Stephenson-Wright. “We had good discussions and learned more about the projects the others are working on,” says Karen Wittwer, Sales and Technical Support SSA/SDL, an Upskill participant from Germany. Karen felt that the lecture on lifelong learning by Professor Tarek A. provided impressive insights. The participants also went on a safari activity in central London together.  “Everyone brought their own stories, experiences and knowledge, as we all shared learnings, laughter and ideas together in a truly open space,” says Kelsey Parsons, Global Sustainability Officer, an Upskill participant from the UK. #Gunnebo #Upskill #Knowledge #Development #LifeAtGunnebo #Training #Trainee #London #BusinessSchool
