European Sustainable Development Week at Gunnebo The #SustainableDevelopmentGoals (SDGs) are important for all countries and companies to work on. Both of our business units provided some great examples of initiatives for #ESDW2024. Our business unit Gunnebo Entrance Control raised the SDG flag as part of a UN Global Compact Network campaign. GEC also held an SDG Masterclass to provide a deeper understanding of the UN’s 17 SDGs and explore how the security industry can integrate them into their practices. Our business unit Gunnebo Safe Storage highlighted sustainability progress at its production plants. These included introducing lower-carbon cement, increasing the usage of solar power, and making recycling improvements. The first-ever Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) in the physical security industry were also obtained for several products. Cleaner shop floors are safer and more productive As part of our focus on #healthandsafety, our plants have been working hard to implement the #5S and visual management. These are two key aspects of the Gunnebo Production System, which guides us on our #lean journey. The pedestrian walkways painted by our plant in Jakarta, Indonesia, are one of many recent improvements that came out of this work. The plants in Halol, India, and Cincinatti, USA, also painted walkways soon afterwards. “The pedestrian walkways improve safety by keeping forklift traffic away from pedestrians. The interesting thing about these walkways is that three plants realised it was a good idea independently of one another. Working with colleagues from across the globe in a multi-cultural environment is one of the hallmarks of #LifeatGunnebo. Our Global Application Design Team is a great example of this. Many who had never met face-to-face before were brought together for a kick-off event in Gothenburg hosted by Harald Magnusson. The team celebrated successes together, recapped lessons learned, and shared knowledge. It has been exciting weeks lately! Our Application Design Team have had team meetings and activities here at Gunnebo HQ in Gothenburg. The team is truly global with the base in Sweden with Peter Gustafson, Daniel Sjöström and Margaretha Noll, and then with Falch-Nielsen Morten in Norway, Jos Berndzen in the Netherlands and Preejith A and Anuj Kumar in India. The agenda for these days focused on a mix of looking back with lessons learned from the latest large project in India, looking forward how we can improve us further and work with coming challenges, and having time for personal meetings and activities to strengthen the team relations. We worked on our processes and how we manage the lifecycle, document and develop the global Dynamics 365 template. The purpose is to ensure the Enterprise Systems organization is prepared for next coming roll-outs and being able to support and maintain the full template scope including latest release of Manufacturing module in D365. Gathering the full team in the same meeting room brings an extra dimension to the discussions. The personal meetings are important and the agenda was arranged so we all had time also outside the meeting room to speak to each other. We meet over Teams more or less every day, but it is invaluable to meet in person on occasions like this. I wanted to make sure there was room for the personal meetings too. Friday evening we all met up at my place for a BBQ. That gave us a lot of time to learn speak more to each other. Due to the weather condition with strong winds and rain there was no outside activity, besides from the shared work to watch the grill! 😆 During the evening we took the opportunity to recognize the hard work done in the India project and celebrated the go-live, and also shared farewell wishes to Johan and Cheima that left the team. On Sunday we went for a guided tour of Carlstens Fortress at Marstrand and had a nice late lunch by the docks. The grand finale of this global meet was our visit to Microsoft Tech Center in Copenhagen, with a manufacturing focus on the “Factory of the Future”. It is my belief that gatherings and events like this build strong and engaged teams. This week brought a lot of insights and inspiration to our work, and also joy and laughter. That will make the team more sustainable over time and we will be able to manage urgent incidents and critical situations better. #lifeatGunnebo

Continuous innovation is a part of our DNA at Gunnebo, a high priority for us to meet our goals and keep making the world a safer place. Our CEO Stefan Syrén shares some key innovations in both of our business units, Gunnebo Safe Storage and Gunnebo Entrance Control.
🌏 How do you think we can create a safer world? I firmly believe that innovation is one of the key drivers. First of all, more sophisticated threats demand more technologically advanced protection, so the bar must be constantly raised to keep up with demand. Not only can we enhance security with innovation but also make it both more aesthetically pleasing and more convenient and easy to use. This is essential for bringing security to more contexts and extending its benefits to more people. There is no shortage of theories or buzz about innovation here on LinkedIn. So, I would like to share some real-world examples of innovation I’m proud of from both of our Gunnebo business units. The EverydaySafe is a compact drawer safe that discreetly integrates into kitchens or furniture units, like a wardrobe. This innovation came out of Gunnebo Safe Storage’s dedicated innovation Hub in Bari, Italy, making security more accessible to ordinary people in an aesthetically pleasing way. The second example I wanted to share is Gunnebo Entrance Control’s use of a biometrics integration enabling facial recognition to reduce boarding times dramatically. By making airport security more convenient with innovative technology, we are thinking outside the box and reducing the friction of long waits. We won't stop here. I want to highlight innovation even more going forward, and I look forward to seeing what we will come up with. 🎉 Congratulations to all the participants for completing our 3rd #Upskill Trainee Programme with projects that will have a lasting impact on Gunnebo! Thanks to the ESCP Business School, Stefan Syrén and Clara Colomés for all your support and involvement in the programme. 🎉 “During my Upskill year, I grew a lot, through the perfect balance between learning from experienced colleagues and taking the lead to drive new initiatives at Gunnebo. It also helped me build a strong network, connecting with colleagues from different parts of the company, all over the world,” says trainee Olivia Johansen. The project topics this time included #digitalisation, #sustainability, #LEAN and #innovation, which are all key long-term focus areas for Gunnebo. “The final presentations by my fellow trainees were all impressive and I was fascinated to learn about the various ways in which my peers were contributing to the business with their skills while also using the opportunity to grow and develop in their careers. I am excited to see where we all go next,” says trainee Esha Patil. The final module of the 3rd Upskill was held from 2nd to 4th September. After the final project presentations, the participants received their diplomas digitally and congratulated one another. “The opportunity to connect with diverse global teams was a highlight, enriching my experience and broadening my perspectives. I'm grateful for the exceptional sessions, which delivered new knowledge, skills, and confidence to excel in my role. 🌍Multicultural respect for Karen’s technical expertise at Gunnebo🌍 Karen Wittwer has been with Gunnebo Safe Storage for 20 years, serving as a Sales & Technical Support expert for Safe Store Auto (SSA) and related safety deposit lockers (SDL) at Markersdorf. “I like that Gunnebo is a global company with people from many different cultures. In some cultures, it is not usual for a woman to be explaining the technical side of things to men. But the technicians I work with have always had no problem listening to me, did not doubt my position and authority, and have been very nice and respectful in communication,” says Karen. 🏭 In case you’ve wondered what the culture is like at Gunnebo, Karen shares what makes it special for her. “We are like a big family here in Markersdorf. A lot of us are also friends outside of work who get together for barbecues and things like that. One of the best things is that I feel I can blindly trust the team around me, that everybody is doing their best. This is an ideal working environment where we can address critically urgent tasks together instead of feeling the weight of the world on one’s shoulders alone,” says Karen. 💼 Are you considering a career at Gunnebo?
