From a 𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 to 𝐆𝐚𝐦𝐞-𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬 It all started when we accidentally discovered that tiny particles could be coated with graphene. Graphmatech's scientists, driven by curiosity, explored this further. We successfully coated different types of particles—like metals, oxides, polymers and battery cathodes —with graphene. The coating solved many problems for our industrial customers: improved flowability, increased laser absorption, higher packing density, increased conductivity, and protection from oxidation. Essentially, we brought the incredible properties of graphene to powders and later to components. Our graphene-coated powders have diverse applications, from powder metallurgy and spray coating to 3D printing and battery cathode manufacturing—and beyond. As the 𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝 for our graphene-coated powders grew, we worked hard to scale up our production process. 𝐖𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐝, 𝐭𝐨 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐞 the coating process increasing our capability by 𝟓𝟎 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐬 and we 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐬. This week our industrial PhD student Andrea Spanou has taken part in the 12th World Biomaterials Congress in Daegu, South Korea (https://wbc2024.com/)! Andrea presented two of her research topics: “Graphene-coated polymer powders for 3D printing of electrically conductive parts” and “Fully 3D-printed PVDF-TrFE based piezoelectric devices with PVDF-TrFE-rGO composites as electrodes". Andrea’s research has led to the development of two exciting products at Graphmatech: ▪ AROS SLS PA11 ESD - A graphene-coated PA11 powder, a carbon fiber free alternative to make dense isotropic ESD parts, https://lnkd.in/dffyM2K5 . ▪ PVDF-TrFE-rGO - A multifunctional polymer-based ink with high electrical conductivity and revolutionary applications for polymer-based 3D printed piezoelectric devices. This work is conducted with support from AM4Life Competence Centre, Vinnova, and Vetenskapsrådet / Swedish Research Council.
