Fabric Forest

Fabric Forest is honored to exhibit in the foyer of Textile Fashion Center in Borås this autumn in the historic space where SKS, our parent company, operated until 2007. It was here that the "Skogens Tyg" project, in collaboration with the The Swedish School of Textiles - University of Borås, developed paper yarn into fabric - a process in which we played an active role. The exhibition highlights our full interior design concept and selected collaboration partners such as "Åter i Bruk", part of Regional utveckling VGR and Swedese. Additionally, we also present an innovative project in collaboration with two graduating students, Saga Ingerholt and Linnea Alkin, from The Swedish School of Textiles - University of Borås. This project explores the use of paper twine in saltwater for crayfish cages, demonstrating the potential of our materials to replace synthetic fibers in future fishing equipment. These versatile materials are suitable for a variety of interior applications, including cushion covers, upholstery, curtains, room dividers, and more, depending on the specific properties of each fabric. Our textiles are crafted from 100% paper sourced from Swedish trees, which are nurtured with natural rainfall and harvested from sustainably managed forests. This environmentally responsible approach ensures that our production process not only avoids contributing to deforestation but also helps reduce carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere. The core of our fabric production lies in this wood-derived textile, which is manufactured using a proprietary weaving and knitting technique. We have received numerous inquiries following the Craftverk exhibition at Formex, particularly about how to utilize fabric from Fabric Forest. While planning an exhibition may not be an everyday task, the results speak for themselves—these fabrics made a striking impact in the installations. Fabric Forest is part of the Exhibition “Craftverk” at Formex during August 26-28. Once again, we can present our fabric in paper yarn in a new context. Through a reworking of material from the enormous tent at the Exhibition at IUFRO Foresty Congress at Stockholmsmässan in June, we are also very proud to re-use the material.   https://lnkd.in/d_5ugC9v   STUDIO KLINGA who also created this entrance space wanted to highlight other creative individuals with six selections of work from local designers, artists, craftswomen and –men.   STUDIO KLINGA is a design collective consisting of six recent graduates from Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design. The historic townhouse “Conary” in Copenhagen is now decorated with Fabric Forest Wallpaper Pine, a textile wallpaper in 100% paper yarn. During 3daysofdesign visitors could visit the place to see the exhibition “the Salon”, a furniture exhibition showing designs by brands including Karimoku and Ladies & Gentlemen Studio. The Conery is a member-club and the house is a historical monument. Curated by designer Signe Hytte , Enter the Salon is a space where design, art and poetry converge, creating a seamless blend of the past with the present. Fabric Forest textiles in wood fibers was decorating an enormous tent, a room which symbolizes the right to move freely in the nature, “Allemansrätten”. This Exhibition was shown at the worlds’ largest forest event of 2024, IUFRO World Congress. Fabric Forest was invited to the Innovations stage where Yvette Gilbert & Fredrik Svenberg presented the innovative technology of producing textiles from the Swedish Forest. Fabric Forest has been part of Swedish Forest Industries Exhibition, Skogsindustrierna, showing pillows & rugs in paper yarn, wood fibers from the Swedish forest. IUFRO World Congress is the worlds’ largest forest event, and the largest in Sweden ever.
