Last week we attended the "New Horizons to Biologics and Bioprocessing" international educational forum emphasizing in new directions, R&D, and technical improvements in biologics, bioprocessing, and ATMP. The forum was an excellent opportunity to delve into the latest advancements and innovations, connect with industry experts, and collaborate on pushing the boundaries of our field. This week we participated in Copenhagen at New Horizons in Biologics and Bioprocessing symposium that gathered inspiring talks and presenters and a very good organization from Life Science Sweden . Our excellent moderator, Morten Munk, concluded that the developments in advanced therapies and their manufacturing are moving forward this field. We need to accelerate the uptake of the innovative solutions being brought to the market because we all work towards the same goal: to enable patient access to these fantastic medicines! Do you feel inspired for the weekend? I do, and I would like to share the inspiration with you! Today, I had the honor to listen to the third Swede in space Marcus Wandt who described, with a BIG SMILE, his fantastic journey to space. To keep it short, I will only pick 4 messages from this amazingly interesting and inspiring talk: 1. Dream big, have a vision, hold on to your path, plan forward, and don’t give up! 2. Think risks/consequences and mitigations, be ready to continuously change the priority, and be extremely prepared for the journey. 3. Love every minute of the journey as you will learn, grow, and develop from all the situations that you will be exposed to. 4. Innovative research and development performed in space accelerate the patient treatments on Earth. In this context, Marcus talked about culturing and expanding stem cells in microgravity since it enables three-dimensional cell growth resembling the same conditions as in the human body, which is one of the main benefits of our nanotechnology, Cellevat3d™!
