Did you know that the average amount of current flowing through 12V vehicle systems has increased more than 650 percent since the 1950s? It is clearly time for an architecture overhaul, and many OEMs have targeted 48V as the natural next step. But making the move requires paying attention to several key design considerations.

To enable a future powered by electric vehicles, we need to invest in technologies that deliver the fast charging capabilities users want. Aptiv's battery management software (BMS) can optimize the battery's performance and coordinate everything it interacts with, such as the onboard charger, while meeting automotive functional safety requirements. In addition to improving day-to-day charging performance, BMS is a powerful tool to reduce costs, save space and limit waste.
