  • The candidate has a very poor history and is a drama seeker on en-WP. While this is a different project and subject to its own policies etc, I do hope people bear in mind this, which the candidate has written about adminship on that project and which is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to problematic contributions. - Sitush (tauk) 14:28, 2 September 2019 (UTC)[replie]
  • Above statement was made shortly after the Eric Corbett case – posted by the candidate – ended with motion, as the reported user publicly quit, yet used another account. It's an unfortunate ending, and an unfortunate response to call this case "drama seeking" on another wiki, that I hope the fellow editor will reconsider and strike.
The candidate has shown patience and civility in response to similar minded, and even more harsh comments during the case. This is a good sign to me, that they will be a level-headed, reliable admin even in heated situations. As I'm not an editor on this project – and I'm sorry for not speaking Scottish –, I believe I cannot vote, otherwise I would support him. Aron Manning (tauk) 20:35, 2 September 2019 (UTC)[replie]
  • I am not a friend of Sitush, and I am not a friend of Eric Corbett, nor am I an editor of this Wikipedia, so I have no objections if this comment is struck as being from outside your editing community, but I do want to say this: while I do not hold MJL is as low esteem as some other editors on English Wikipedia appear to, I also have to say that his their character does not strike me as a good one for a candidate to be an administrator on any Wikipedia, as he they appears to be rather attracted to creating drama where none is necessary, and does not appear to take the time to consider the implications of his their comments or actions. This Wikipedia is, of course, completely free to make its own decisions about MJL, but I did wish to point out that his their reputation on English Wikipedia, where he has they have done the majority of his their editing -- 17,998 edits, vs. 315 edits here -- is not all that stellar. Good luck to you all, and I apologize for writing in English Beyond My Ken (tauk) 07:53, 4 September 2019 (UTC)[replie]
@Beyond My Ken: I appreciate the honest feedback. Just a note about pronouns please. As I have said to you in the past, your opinion carries a lot of weight with me. I just think you are a bit wrong in your assessment in this one particular case. Being an admin means different things on different projects. The things you have cited are exactly the reason I would be a terrible fit as an enwiki admin. If I may explain exactly what I plan to do as admin to you here, then maybe you can reconsider that position.
On sco.wiki, there is no such thing as a template editor, page mover, file mover, pending change reviewer, edit filter helper or manager, or new page reviewer. All of that is strictly bundled with the admin role. If I want to do something as simple as a page swap, it requires an admin. Gardener is literally the only admin regularly active here. If he doesn't get to it, it is not getting done (just look at his talk page, it's literally just full of requests for him to do mundane tasks).
Finally, I'll just translate our full adminship policy for you since Scots can be hard to understand:
The Scots Wikipedia policy right now is to grant this access liberally to anybody that has been an active Wikipedia contributor for a while and is generally a well known and trusted member of the community. This works well for us since there's not many users. Policy might change at some later date, when we have that many users that we don't all know one another. But we doubt that'll be a while yet.
I'll even let slip what my first admin action is going to be: deleting the pages created by 79.69.138.191 as obvious nonsense. There's not a lot of drama involved in that. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯MJLTauk 17:58, 4 September 2019 (UTC)[replie]
  • [en] I'm not involved in this wiki, but MJL would be a great asset in my view --DannyS712 (tauk) 08:59, 8 September 2019 (UTC)[replie]
