They are classifee'd in the suborder Myliobatoidei o the order Myliobatiformes an consist o aicht faimilies: Hexatrygonidae (sixgill stingray), Plesiobatidae (deepwater stingray), Urolophidae (stingarees), Urotrygonidae (roond rays), Dasyatidae (whiptail stingrays), Potamotrygonidae (river stingrays), Gymnuridae (butterflee rays), an Myliobatidae (eagle rays).[1][2]
