It is locatit in the province o Soothren Finland an is pairt o the Uusimaa region. The municipality haed a population o 1,365 (31 Dizember 2008)[2] an covered a laund aurie o 72.01 square kilometre (27.80 sq mi). The population densitie wis 18.96 inhabitants per square kilometre (49.1/sq mi).
The municipality is unilingually Finnish.
It wis the birthplace o ane o Finland's maist famous writers, Elias Lönnrot, the compiler o the Kalevala.
