Žilina /ˈʒɪlɪnə/ German: Sillein [zɪˈlaɪ̯n] or [ˈzɪlaɪ̯n], Hungarian: Zsolna, names in ither leids) is a ceety in north-wastern Slovakie, aroond 200 kilometre (120 mi) frae the caipital Bratislava, close tae baith the Czech an Polis borders. It is the fowert lairgest ceety o Slovakie wi a population o approximately 85,000, an important industrial center, the lairgest ceety on the Váh river, an the seat o a kraj (Žilina Region) an o an okres (Žilina Destrict). It belangs tae Upper Váh region o tourism.
