This demo is completely free, but I would appreciate a rating as well as any feedback you have about the game. :)

I had the amazing opportunity to interview the developer of this project!
Had a great time playing it also!πŸ™‚

Thanks for having me on Rik, it was a really fun chat!  😁

( 3)

lovely game  but i would like to inform you they rhubarb is in fact a perennial and a hardy one at that strong enough to survive Minnesota winters and being entirely cut down it does not die  even small rhubarb plants are like this. please continue making great games

( 1)

I’ve never grown rhubarb, only eaten it. 😳
Thanks for the feedback. πŸ™βœ¨πŸŒ±

I didn't notice this while playing but it's true! I have a lot or rhubarb in my garden here in Sweden and it's never been bothered by the Winter, just freezes over then springs back to life with the sun.

I absolutely love this game! I played for so long, I honestly forgot that it's a demo. I actually kinda like that the day doesn't end until you want it to, but I also don't think a progressive day/night cycle would take away any enjoyment.

The only issue I can find is that you can't sell the fish you catch (I thought buying the fishing rod meant more income), lack of a cooking mechanic, and not enough storage. Upgrades for those would be nice, too.

I've also encountered a problem where, if the storage lets me add multiple of an item, it deletes them. So I lost all but one of some items, not knowing there's no stacking. Not devastating, though; it didn't slow me down much.

In short, this is amazingly done! Despite some missing mechanics, I've put a lot of play time into it already, and I'm so excited for the full game!

( 2)

I am so glad you enjoyed playing Meadow GB!   πŸ˜„
I'm actively revising the core mechanics, so I really appreciate these detailed thoughts and feedback. πŸ™

( 2)

No problem! I figured you'd like to know of any issues players find. I'll try to stay up-to-date with this game, so if there's any bugs/issues, I can let you know.

(...basically an excuse for me to play it even more lmao!)

( 3)

Pleased to see development continue on this. It scratches a cosy itch in the indie scene.

Do you have any kind of roadmap or v1.0 plans for the game? Or are you just working on it, and adding content, as and when it comes to you?

( 3)

I have a tentative roadmap for the game. :)
I’m currently planning on doing another point release (0.9.0) over the Summer, then taking some time for polish and refinement, with a full 1.0 release in the late Fall / early Winter.
I don’t strictly structure the updates, I try to let the features come to me as they will.  πŸŒ±

( 1)

When you check the bushes that block the way, it says "brush" instead of "bush" ^^;

Thank you for the feedback! πŸ™

No problem! Just a question, am I missing something, or I can't pet the cow? I don't have any tool and have no idea I am supposed to find a brush or sth? Talking to the cow just gave her a heart icons ands that's it, but there's still unchecked "brush the cow" on my list. Can't left the farm or go to bed. I'm a little stuck... Any tips? :)

Thank you for the bug report!  πŸͺ±
I removed a debug flag from the cow, so you should be able to pet it without issue!  πŸ„ β™₯️

( 1)

Thank you, so nice of you!

( 2)

Just to add that brush generally means a small thicket of shrubby growth, likely difficult to pass. Personally I think I prefer brush to bush in this context, but it works either way!

(1 edit) ( 1)

Oh, didn't knew! But if it's a small thicket, then it's kind of funny that you can't pass it. So personally I think the "bush" fits better, but it's up to the developer.

I think this game is amazing, taking the fact it's made in GB Studio, it's even better! Keep up the good work! :) I'm also trying to make farming game in GB Studio, so I know it's HARD. Btw if you need, I made some GB icons for farming games (my itch profile).

Edit: there is a bug, if you choose "load" in house table while no saves are made, hero turns into arrow :)

( 1)

I’m glad you enjoyed playing Meadow!

Good luck with your game, I look forward to seeing your progress! :D
Also, thank you for the bug report. 🐜

( 2)

Thank you! Also, good luck with this project :)

Hello @salvatoreTosti, I didn't finished my farm game yet, but I've made a survival game if you want to take a look :D It's on my itch.io page and it's called Cold Nights.

But u want to make a farm game for game boy too, or fizzlymike? :)

Yup, still in the making :)

great! But for Game Boy?

( 1)

So I've been playing the demo today on my original GBC, and my impression is that it's super rad all round! There's a lot of detail that adds to the cosy atmosphere, and I particularly liked the little flavour texts for, say, a mossy or lizard-inhabited rock, or a shimmering pool.

I also found the formatting of the text very easy to read on the original, unmodified GBC screen. It's nicely written and short, while still conveying everything it needs to.

What really won me over was finding the hot air balloon before discovering the sunset screen. A small touch that I think shows the care that's going into this project.

Will definitely be following along with any future developments you make!

( 1)

Oh I forgot, I also noticed the invisible cactus in my house. The only other bug I found is that the text on the screen to enter the names of my cows and chickens is misaligned. So to get the correct letter I have to select the letter to the top right of the one I want.

( 1)

I’m so glad you enjoyed your time playing Meadow!

Thank you for the positive and detailed feedback about the game! πŸ™
I don't have hardware to test with, so I appreciate your notes about text clarity.
Also, thanks for the bug reports, they are always appreciated. 🐞

( 1)

Hi! Loving it so far. :) It's clear that a lot of love is being put into this and I can really appreciate that.

I'm on day 2 and noticed that I have an invisible cactus, though! This happens on a new save file, too, so I don't think it's my save.

Keep up the great work! Can't wait to see where this goes.

( 2)

Thank you so much for the bug report with screenshots! πŸ“· πŸ¦—
I am glad you're enjoying the game and can feel the love that goes into making it! πŸ™

There are incredible homebrew titles coming out lately but, honestly, a chilled new farming sim is at the top of my most wanted list. (I'm eternally disappointed, for example, that a million Pokemon romhacks are released weekly, while Harvest Moon receives zero love).

I'm currently repairing my GBC. As soon as it's done, I'm going to take this demo for an Everdrive spin.

Just played it, enjoyed it quite a bit, nonetheless, ive found several issues while playing, the most serious one; loading a save from the titlescreen is a guaranteed KERNEL PANIC, leaving any save data unusable.

other issues ive found include; unreasonable amounts of empty space between points of interest, and the income stat in the farm info menu not displaying numbers higher than 99, despite getting incomes bigger than that being possible.

Still, i hope the project keeps getting developed, because again, i enjoyed playing it.

Thanks for the bug report 🐞 and feedback.
I'm glad you enjoyed the game!

Fun game so far! Just getting started on it but I found a fun glitch when I saved, refreshed the page, messed with the settings, and loaded the game (it went away once I left the barn)

( 1)

Thanks for the bug report! πŸͺ²

( 1)

this looks so adorable, I can’t wait to try it!

( 3)

I randomly found this game while downloading others

really cute game all together, I did find that buying (10) chicken feed gives you hay but then also you can't have more than 10 of each feed.

the only thing I would love is stacking items, so I could sell more at a time. I wouldn't mind having to run back to the boxes to deposit things (I haven't needed to use the storage yet) I think with stacking I would want to buy extras of items

good game though, threw 3 hours in that I didn't even notice because I liked the day to day routine of the game (got the shears, LOVED IT)

( 1)

Thanks so much for the feedback and bug report! πŸ›

I’m glad you enjoyed the game and got the shears. :)

( 2)

I want to the next update for sure :D when we get the shovel or pick to break rocks. loved the tools

Thanks for your support as well!
Your game looks good - will certainly give it a try :).
