One more look at our collaboration with Prince Mohammed Bin Salman College of Business & Entrepreneurship - MBSC and their Family Business Institute on the inaugural Family Business Hackathon. Coming together in MSBC’s campus in King Abdullah Economic City, 265 EMBA students in participated in a three-day session to master family business dynamics with a real-life case study. KPMG was the knowledge partner and took part in judging final presentations. To explore of the essence of family business legacies — the opportunities and the challenges in today’s world — STEP Project Global Consortium (SPGC) and KPMG conducted a survey of 2,683 family business CEOs from 80 countries, including 114 respondents from Saudi Arabia. A contemporary view on legacy is not only historic but recognizes that it is a critical building block for the future because of the positive contribution it makes to business performance and the environmental, social, employee and supplier sustainability impact of family businesses. This perspective helps to think about legacy not only in terms of the impact it may have on your business today, but how you can leverage it for the success of future generations. Our latest global banking study highlights key insights from the survey and shares how cost and value transformation priorities are changing across the banking industry. The document explores key drivers and enablers for successful transformation and discusses how leaders can leverage learnings from other industries — such as value analysis/value engineering from Japanese manufacturing organizations — to further unlock value in cost-to-serve (CTS) metrics alongside more conventional measures such as cost-to-income ratios (CIRs) and return on equity (ROE). The future of internal audit envisions to move away from manual documentation and testing towards a technology-driven approach that leverages AI. However, with the ever-evolving nature of business and internal control environment, internal audit practices need to adapt with ubiquitous changes. These include rapid technological advancements and evolving regulatory landscapes to ensure providing reasonable assurance over the control environment. By embracing technology and adapting practices, internal audit can remain a critical partner in organizational success. In the KPMG banking cost transformation survey, 82 percent of the survey respondents pointed to deep cultural challenges in achieving sustainable cost reductions, even among banks that have made significant technology investments. While the majority of banks (and other industry sectors, for that matter) are focused on reducing their costs, tangible and measurable cost-reduction objectives often are not aligned with their wider ambitions and a cost-culture mindset is not embedded throughout the organization.
