Recognizing the significant influence Finance ministers have and the potential to accelerate global awareness and action, we want to add one essential item to their list: the healthspan agenda. Why healthspan? Despite increases in life expectancy, the extra years often come with chronic diseases. Increasing health budgets haven't always improved outcomes in what are now considered outdated healthcare systems. Healthspan is not just about extending life but about expanding the length of healthy years. A study by The Peter G. Peterson Foundation reveals that "Although the US spends more on healthcare than other developed countries, its health outcomes are generally not better." 'Unhealthy longevity' impacts individuals and strains health systems worldwide. As seen with cancer advancements, tackling such challenges requires collective effort and collaboration across public and private sectors. The Global Healthspan Report indicates that 97% of finance professionals believe that healthy longevity investments can yield greater financial returns than traditional healthcare investments.
