The design of a space — its layout, materials, lighting, and flow — creates an environment that reflects values, culture, and purpose, allowing the space itself to communicate meaning. Architectural choices, like preserving historical details or incorporating local artwork, can honour the past, celebrate identity, and give a sense of place that resonates with those who visit. Ultimately, spaces tell a story by mirroring the lives, dreams, and needs of the people who use them. They become more than just buildings — they become a part of the community's narrative, a backdrop for experiences, and a place where memories and connections are made. Each space, through intentional design, shares a message and creates an atmosphere that feels meaningful and rooted in the life of the community. We believe in designing places that resonate with purpose and heart, places that feel alive with meaning. 🎉 Celebrating the Grand Opening of Braaksma Hall! 🎉 A few weeks ago, we joyfully celebrated the grand opening of Braaksma Hall, the newest addition to Concordia University of Edmonton’s campus. This state-of-the-art learning facility is designed to inspire, featuring vibrant lecture halls, innovative labs, and collaborative spaces that support enrollment growth while nurturing the close-knit community cherished by students. 🌱 Braaksma Hall as a cutting edge education facility stands as a testament to sustainable architecture, health, and accessibility, honoring CUE’s rich historical legacy while embracing contemporary needs. Its thoughtful design reflects modern architectural standards, prioritizing energy efficiency, environmental responsibility, and inclusivity, making it a space where learning and well-being thrive. The building consists of two-and-three-storey sections and a two-level underground parkade, spanning 5,770 m². Strategically positioned along 73 Street near 109 Avenue and Virginia Park School, it integrates seamlessly with the community. 🌍 The building connects to the campus through "The Quad," featuring a bridge that links Braaksma Hall to other campus structures. 🏙️ Sustainability is at the core of Braaksma Hall's design. The building incorporates high-performance glazing systems that exceed code requirements, enhancing energy efficiency. We’re proud to announce that Reimagine Architects has been honoured with a Prairie Wood Design Award for Saddle Lake School! Thoughtfully designed in collaboration with Saddle Lake Cree Nation, this new building is a space where culture, education, and community unite. Wood was central to the design, chosen not only for its sustainability but also for its warmth and ability to connect the school with the land. In creating a welcoming and inspiring environment for students, the use of wood helped shape a space that feels rooted in tradition while looking toward the future. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this project a reality, and to the Saddle Lake Cree Nation for the opportunity to be a part of their story. Libraries hold a special place in our communities — they’re spaces where knowledge, connection, and growth come together. That’s why, when we began the Edson Public Library renovation project, we knew it had to be about more than just refreshing an old building. We set out to preserve the heart of the library while bringing it into the future for the people of Edson. The Reimagine team assessed the existing building and mapped out a multi-pronged refresh that both upgraded its infrastructure, and responded to the modern and evolving needs of the community. Its new layout creates welcoming spaces for gathering, studying and community programming. The project blossomed out of community input: Indigenous engagement and and inclusion survey were conducted to ensure that the library felt like a community hub for the people of Edson. It reflects the people who came together to shape it.
