Sustainable transport and supply chains are important strong points in circularity – GreenGroup uses the first 40-tonne electric truck Scania Group. Through the plastic recycling division, GreenTech | GreenFiber, partnered in the Scania demo pilot project, using the first 40-ton electric truck in Romania. 🚛 The test period is 1 month, with the objective of evaluating the efficiency and sustainability of electric transport in GreenTech's logistics processes. 🔋 Regional Use: The electric truck will be used to supply the two recycling and production plants in Buzau and Urziceni. ♻️ Impact and Sustainability: GreenTech recycles over 150,000 tons of PET waste annually, in Romania, Slovakia and Lithuania, transforming it into raw materials such as RPET granules, PET tape and plastic fiber, used in multiple industries in Romania and Europe. Promateris Group, Romanian industrial group and leader in the production of biodegradable and compostable packaging Biodeck, demonstrated how accessing Norwegian funds can turn an innovative idea into a success story. During 4 years, the company obtained Norwegian funds worth Eur 2,291,000, which enabled the development of production capacity and the adoption of sustainable practices. Tudor Georgescu, CEO of Promateris, talks about the company's ambitious projects: "We had the innovative idea to produce biodegradable packaging, seeing an important opportunity in the sustainable products market. We set out to reinvent ourselves and become pioneers in this field.” Thus, the company began to explore the opportunities offered by Norwegian funds, enabling the purchase of modern equipment for the production of biodegradable and compostable bags. Accessing Norwegian funds was a simple and efficient process without the usual red tape. The team at Innovation Norway provided us support promptly and without delay. The flexibility of this mechanism has allowed us to achieve strategic goals and reduce carbon emissions associated with energy consumption by 500 tons in the last six months. I believe that these funds are essential for the development of SMEs and I encourage other Romanian companies to participate, because the process of obtaining these grants is easy to go through." The first grant obtained was for the purchase of equipment for the production of biodegradable and compostable packaging. After the initial success of this investment project, Promateris decided to expand and start the production of raw materials for compostable packaging, becoming the first supplier in CEE. "We wanted to contribute even more to the decarbonization of the local economy by making raw materials based on corn starch. This product used to be imported into the region by compostable packaging manufacturers, and we now offer a locally produced alternative. The product enjoys great success, being marketed in several countries in the region," explains Tudor Georgescu. In parallel, Promateris invested in green energy to replace traditional energy with that obtained from RES. In 2023, the company obtained the third grant from the EEA & Norway Grants, worth Eur 597,000, for the installation of a photovoltaic system. In just 9 months after installation, Promateris reduced carbon emissions by 510,086 kg and reduced electricity costs by 15%, having a direct positive impact on financial efficiency. Through these projects and results, Promateris demonstrates how accessing Norwegian funds can significantly contribute to increasing production capacity and implementing sustainable practices, thus consolidating its leadership position in the biodegradable and compostable packaging industry. With clients all over Europe, Promateris is a successful example for Romanian companies in order to access funds to develop their businesses and adopt policies to reduce environmental impact.

Congratulations to our colleagues from GreenGroup who inaugurated the third GreenWEEE factory, the electronic recycling division, in the presence of representatives of the central authorities and the local community, an important moment in our joint efforts to support the circular economy in Romania: "We have marked much more than a simple expansion of our group or a new point on the map of the green economy. It is a real change that we are producing in the DNA of the circular economy in Romania. It is a promise that we can do more than consume and throw away. We can recover, reuse and renew.
