Hi, I’m Nick, welcome to RetroBreak!
I studied game design at college, and university. Here’s some podcasts I made showing all the projects I made back then. https://retrobreak.co.uk/my-game-dev-journey/
The first game I ever made was made in powerpoint and spanned several floppy disks! It was called Hiarkin and it’s mostly lost to time now. I recently found a bunch of other PowerPoint games I made back then! They are all awful, but I had fun revisiting them for a recent video!
When I finished school I decided to pursue Game Design. I learned a few basics at College, but really all that was good for was playing on the DS all day, and occasional rounds of Smash Bros on the projector. I did upload a flash game called On The Edge Of Time.
Next came university and I wanted to take another step on the path of becoming a game designer, the first playable game I released was Quantum Shift, a game I made as the project part of my Final Year Project.
After Uni I got a job in IT, during the past few years my understanding of coding has got much better and I decided to try and get some more practise by making and releasing a short game called BLAST AREA.
Later that year, I released a game called Super Donuts for iOS and Android. You can play the original Kickstarter Demo on here, or watch a full play through of the game - Super Donuts! Developers Commentary : Making of My Own Indie Game! 100% Walkthrough
I now spend my time making weekly retro gaming content on YouTube.
