Shall We Dance - Chameleon Kid x Marie Deluna

John Runners (Chameleon Kid’s True Identity, age 10) wanted to go the his elementary school dance just to attend it with his crush from afar, Lizzie Walker. He was so excited, even convinced his mom and grandpa to make him a 3-piece suit for the dance (despite the dance is just a simple kid’s party–not meant to be fancy). John doesn’t care–he wanted his night to socialize and not be seen as a freak (still self conscious of his reptilian appearance and using the holographic wristwatch to look more human)

Marie Deluna, John’s Vampire/Werewolf friend who lives in his home doesn’t truly see the appeal and questions why John wanted to meet someone under the illusion of what this contemporary society deems as “normal”? John dismisses these questions, chalking up as being a girl from another time period. On that day, John was about to attend until a massive supervillain threat is happening. John at first decided not to go thinking the cops or another superhero can handle this. BUT there’s an issue.

• The Superhero team “The Crusaders” have not yet been informed of this impending threat.
• There is NO other superhero in NEW JERSEY!
• John consciousness cannot let him shirk his responsibilities of being a good hero
  
  So John dressed as his alter social media Superhero ego “The Chameleon Kid” and tackles the villain. What he thought was gonna take at least 30 minutes, took til nightfall. CK narrowly survived and succeeded in defeated this latest foe. Tired, winded, and realized to his horror that his holographic wristwatch has been damaged in the fight.
  
  John went to the school dance at the gym only to discovered it’s long since been over. He beats himself up over it but remembers that he made a difference in saving the innocents. They would’ve been hurt or worse if he had been selfish. Then he spotted lights on the roof of the school gym, he checked it out and discovered Marie in a dark dress waiting for him. There’s a Bluetooth speaker and earbuds, a tablet with a playlist of popular anime music, and a DDR themed blanket used as a dance floor.
  
  John was confused and asked Marie why she done this? Marie knew that this night was special for him so she made sure that this day wouldn’t be wasted and as a reward for being so good to the city and taking care of her after revived from the dead awhile ago.  John was hesitant to join her for the dance since she can see his true face. Marie leans up to him to touch his face and said…
  
  “You’re alright as you are."
