Expanded access to the voluntary carbon market #VCM for small and medium-sized enterprises #SMEs, thus facilitating the financing of their #GHG emission reduction projects, occuring in their buildings in the sectors of energy, waste management, and now transportation. In 2024, #SolutionsWill updated #VM0018 methodology, certified by #Verra, which defines the eligible business sectors for Sustainable Communities group projects and the methods for calculating GHG emission reductions. The next steps will involve following the guidelines for revised methodology of the #VCS program, which is currently revising all its active methodologies, including #VM0018. This revision, incorporating our 2024 update, will then need to be approved by the Council on the Integrity of the Voluntary Carbon Market #ICVCM. https://lnkd.in/ejjruSsY

🌳🇧🇷 Telling Europe the untold story of Brazil’s green potential It is not about denying the environmental problems and challenges Brazil faces — that are well-known worldwide — but about telling stories on how different industries and companies, following the best ESG practices available, have managed to build sustainable and thriving businesses “because” they were set up in Brazil. That is the main idea behind the Brazil Climate Summit Europe, a spin-off of the conference held in New York since 2022, which will take place on May 27 in Paris. “The goal is to promote the country as a low-carbon solutions hub, to bring the country’s potential to light without hiding its problems. [This is necessary because] what we see today is that the difficulties are better known than the country’s strengths,” says Jorge Hargrave, director of Maraé Investimentos — the family office of Guilherme Leal, co-founder of cosmetics giant Natura — and one of the organizers of the event in New York and now in Paris. Many hands are involved in organizing Brazil Climate Summit Europe, also being referred to as BCS Europe. The group organizing it is made of alumni and current students of INSEAD, one of Europe's most prominent business schools. The European Union Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) enters into force on 18 July 2024. The regulation seeks to achieve environmentally sustainable and circular products. #sustainability #circular economy.

the World Meteorological Organization and the World Trade Organization have been working on at the role of trade in the context of energy transition to #renewableenergy. The report has three key messages: a)   The transition to weather-based power systems means that trade, in the form of cross-border transmission of electricity, has an important role in balancing supply and demand – and so bringing down the overall cost of the clean energy transition. Weather and climate services also assume a critical role in supporting efficient markets. b)   Natural endowments of renewable energy resources (solar, water and wind) are not spread equally across the globe. Tapping green energy comparative advantage leads to new trade opportunities for developing countries and LDCs both in electricity trade and in associated goods and services; c)   Realizing these "reglobalization" opportunities requires action to remove bottlenecks that currently slow down or stall interconnection projects. The report highlights access to finance (including trade finance), regulatory approval delays and touches on a series of other trade policy areas dealing with goods and services.
