This week, we’re excited to have participated in World Water Week in Stockholm. Our experts, alongside leading figures in the field, delved into key issues on the water agenda and shared our view on how we can take action to protect this precious resource. At Grundfos, we believe in involving youth in sustainable water practices, creating lasting impact by engaging the decision-makers of tomorrow. We also believe in building communication to underline the importance of sustainability goals in the water sector and adapting already existing solutions from the e.g. the climate field. Thank you to our great colleagues Virginia Newton-Lewis, PhD , Inês Breda, Ph.D. and Apoorva Manichandar for highlighting these crucial messages.

Meet Katrine, doctor of our machines, who expresses her dedication to contributing to the daily flow at Grundfos: "If the machines are not functioning, our pumps cannot be produced, so it’s my responsibility to keep production running. Basically, I’m like a doctor for the machines. And in that way, my job becomes an important piece of the Grundfos puzzle". 🧩🤩 Can't wait to meet Katrine? Grundfos Serbia volunteers, led by our colleagues Miroslav Petrovic and Mirjana Barićak, ran a one-week-summer sports camp for orphaned children in Guca, Serbia, in July. Supported by the Grundfos Foundation’s grant and the NGO “Dr Milorad Pavlović Children’s Village”, the camp included swimming lessons, sport activities, sightseeing, and disco parties for 65 children. This project, now in its third year, has touched the hearts of both volunteers and children. “I love it because I can see smiles on their faces,” says Miroslav, who lost his father at the age of 5. Mirjana adds: “I feel so fulfilled and honoured to have the opportunity to help and to make a difference in these children’s lives.”

In the face of climate change, cities must adopt ambitious water management targets with support from accelerator programs and embrace innovative water management strategies. This was the key takeaway from the IWA World Water Congress C40 session that Grundfos hosted entitled “Water Management in Stressed Urban Areas: Bringing Collective Understanding of the Value of Water.” Through the discussion we aim to support cities trying to tackle water-related challenges, from flood reduction to ensuring water access for all. Accountability is key, and regular progress reporting is not just encouraged but mandatory. This ensures that cities remain committed to their goals, such as: • Early warning systems in vulnerable areas by 2027. • A 20% reduction in water demand by 2030. • Enhanced stormwater retention to curb flooding. • Net-zero energy water systems by 2035. The discussion included examples from cities like New York and New Orleans, where recent experiences with severe weather events have underscored the need for robust water management systems. New York, for example, is adjusting its infrastructure to cope with more intense and frequent rainfalls, shifting its climate classification to subtropical. Join us in championing ambitious water management targets and fostering a resilient future. #GrundfosIWA #WWCE2024 #WaterInnovation #WaterIndustry

As the world experiences increasing water challenges, Grundfos is taking the lead in raising awareness and inspiring change in how we manage water and we’re using our platform at the IWA World Water Congress to amplify that message. At our booth this week, we’ve highlighted our partnership in "Our Blue World: A Water Odyssey" by hosting a panel discussion on the importance of the collaborations that translate the value of water. The key takeaway from this session is that the lack of access to clean water is not isolated to Africa but that water stressed areas exist across the globe. For instance, in the favelas in Brazil, in indigenous communities in New Mexico and Arizona, and even in urban areas throughout North and South America there are people without access to clean water. Thank you to our panelists for this important discussion to help highlight innovative solutions to bringing water access to more people - David Henderson, M Anique Azam, Grace Beeler, Patricia Malavez, and Anise Sacranie. #GrundfosIWA #WWCE2024 #WaterInnovation #WaterIndustry

At Grundfos, we’re leading the industry in research and development of technology and innovation, and we’re excited to showcase some of our latest advances during the technical program at the IWA World Water Congress this week. Our team of highly skilled and trained scientists and engineers are constantly looking at ways we can enhance our solutions and provide tangible value to our customers. At IWA this week, we’re unveiling cutting-edge digital innovations that enhance water utility operations and increase efficiency in water supply and wastewater management. The IWA events this week help provide a forum where we can focus on engaging with the industry to gather feedback, address concerns, and foster collaboration. We strongly feel that by partnering with our customers to test and discuss our innovations, we can develop technologies that truly make a difference and contribute to water sustainability. A few highlights of the innovations we’re presenting this week: Our Demand Driven Distribution, a well-known technology from Grundfos, recently received a major upgrade ensuring it meets the most recent EU and US-wide regulations on cyber-security. At its core, the system is designed to optimize water pressure in a water supply system which leads to reduced leakages and increases energy efficiency. Thanks to our team, this system now meets all the requirements to be deployed across the world. Additionally, we’re also deploying innovative approaches in water distribution systems to reduce operational expenditure costs by utilizing day-ahead electricity prices to fill and empty elevated reservoirs in the most efficient way. In our wastewater management area, we’re introducing our innovative data driven solutions for providing intelligent and smart analytics offerings for sewer networks. An example of these solutions is smart pump flow estimation using IOT data of connected wastewater pumps and a machine learning approach to bringing foundational values of several analytics offerings such as predictive maintenance, infiltration analysis, overflow prediction and capacity planning in sewer networks. Another example is a data-driven solution for combined sewer overflow prediction, leveraging telemetry and AI to forecast flow and water levels, predict overflow events, and provide actionable alerts to our customers. We also organized a workshop on inclusive science, where we approach the importance of open access and language to ensure outreach to the entire research community. The discussions during the workshop reflected the need for national action to increase visibility of science-based research projects and community-led research. Ultimately, we’re here to demonstrate our commitment to transforming ideas into real-world applications, driven by customer feedback and collaboration. #IWA2024 #WaterInnovation #WaterUtilityTech

Day 3 of the IWA World Water Congress and today was a busy one! In the Business Forum, Grundfos Water Access Director, Anise Sacranie, hosted a session entitled “Empowering Water Futures: Are Public Private Partnerships the answer?” In this session, Anise highlighted the long-standing Grundfos mission to bring safe, clean water access to 300 million people by 2030. She was candid about the successes and challenges of such an ambitious goal. She also talked about the movement of public/private partnerships in funding water related projects in underserved communities, including the opportunities and challenges that these partnerships need to address and how we can align the interests of organizations with different roles, cultures and measures of success. “The reason we set such an audacious goal was to challenge ourselves to think differently to make the most impact,” said Sacranie during the discussion. “We can’t do what we’ve always done and expect different results, so we’re looking through the entire value chain. We approach each project collaboratively and through a lens of shared value and commercial viability for all involved.” We would also like to highlight that part of the events this week, the attendees were invited to attend site tours around the Toronto area to see water solutions happening in real life utility operations. Two of the sites visited featured Grundfos solutions - Ashbridge’s Bay Wastewater Treatment Plant and the Horgan Water Treatment Plant & Highland Creek Wastewater Treatment plant with Markham District Energy. #GrundfosIWA #WWCE2024 #WaterInnovation
