The 2024 Asset Management Competition, held in collaboration with the Minerva Investment Management Society, Sigma Investments, Imperial College Business School Finance Club, and Blackskies Investments, has successfully concluded. Running from March 11th to May 3rd, the competition saw impressive participation from over 100 individuals representing 18 leading universities in Europe. In the final stage, the top 5 finalist teams had the unique opportunity to present their investment strategies to seasoned partners at Deutsche Bank and Nordea Asset Management. We are excited to announce that, due to their outstanding performance and strategic acumen, the FEP Finance Club Hedge has been declared the winner of this year’s competition, with a 7.71% cumulative return. The second place was secured by Wealthy Wizards of Imperial which achieved a 7.66% return and the third place by Probability Profiteers, with a 7.47% cumulative return. Congratulations to all participants and finalists for their hard work and dedication.

Winners of the 2024 Asset Management Competition! 🎉 We are thrilled to announce that our team, consisting of Aníbal Linhares, Gonçalo Moutinho, Lourenço Pé D’Arca, Luiz Guilherme Motta, and João Pedro, won the 2024 Asset Management Competition, hosted by Nova Investment Club, Minerva Investment Management Society, Sigma Investments, Imperial College Business School Finance Club, and Blackskies Investments. From March 11th to May 3rd, our FEP Finance Club team was challenged with constructing a portfolio to be held for 2 months, assessed on both performance and strategy. Our team competed against 28 other teams and over 100 individuals, representing 18 leading European universities. Our team’s portfolio achieved a 7.71% cumulative return during the 2-month period. This, combined with a solid investment strategy, convinced the jury – comprising seasoned partners from Deutsche Bank and Nordea Asset Management – to award our team first place in the competition. On the 23rd of May, the participants of our Equity Research Challenge Competition presented their reports to a panel of Jurors composed of Professor and Master in Finance Director Jorge Farinha, Professor Fábio Duarte, Vasilya Benfeito, CFA from CFA Society Portugal, Miguel Guimarães and Tiago Vinagre from Deloitte. We were also joined by Mariana Salazar, from Deloitte. The teams that reached the finals were given 10 minutes for their presentation and 10 minutes for questions made by the panel. After the presentations, while the panel of Jurors decided on the winning report, we provided a mini coffee break for the participants. We are proud to announce that Diogo Andrade and Diogo Borges, both members of our Corporate Finance Department, won the competition and secured two positions as Summer Interns in Financial Advisory at Deloitte's offices in Porto. We thank all the participants and Jurors for helping us make our Equity Research Challenge 2024 edition a success!
