ℹ 📝 New paper published under the #EV4EU project at ARES '24: The 19th International Conference on Availability, Reliability and Security and published in the ACM Digital Library! ✅ Title: “Open V2X Management Platform Cyber-Resilience and Data Privacy Mechanisms” by Alexios Lekidis and Hugo Morais. 💡Abstract: #V2X technologies have been recently introduced to provide enhanced connectivity between the different smart grid segments as well as #EVs. The EVs draw power to the grid and may be used as an energy flexibility resource for households and buildings. The increased number of interconnections though, is augmenting substantially the cyber-security and data privacy threats that may occur in the V2X ecosystem. 👨🎓👏 Congratulations to Gabriel Fabbri for successfully defending his Master's thesis at DTU - Technical University of Denmark, a work partially supported by the EV4EU project. 📑 The thesis "Experimental characterisation and assessment of state-of-the-art V2X equipment for electric vehicles" explores Vehicle-to-grid (#V2G) technology and has invested significant effort in designing and conducting an experimental campaign to assess the performance of a bidirectional #EV charger. At DTU Gabriel was supervised by #EV4EU researchers Mattia Marinelli and Jan Engelhardt. 🔬 Gabriel's research was also supported by the FLOW Project that is along with EV4EU one of the 5️⃣ projects involved in #V2X Cluster! 🌟📢 After the launch of the 🇩🇰 Demo site in Bornholm, we are happy to now announce that the #EV4EU project is now live at São Miguel in the Azores 🇵🇹! 🚀 Following an intensive year working on the demo control architecture, the #HorizonEurope project stepped out of the Lab straight to EDA's facilities! 🎯 The goal is to now test #EV Fleet Management for SMEs focusing on light passenger transport. With 6️⃣ charging points, the site will support a fleet of at least 3️⃣ 2️⃣ electric vehicles and test Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) smart control strategies tailored to the needs of companies managing their fleets. ➡ The EDA's site is one of 3️⃣ pilot sites of the Portuguese Demonstrator which involves the Smart Energy Lab, INESC-ID, EDP Renewables (EDP NEW), EDA and DRE Açores. 🚘 🏘 The next phase of the 🇵🇹 Demonstrator involves installing the control architecture to monitor the functionality of the #V2H management system in individual homes. 🗓 This pilot will start in September 2024 and will be conducted in 7️⃣ houses in São Miguel. Exciting times ahead! 🚀 EV4EU is making significant strides.   Just last week, I had the opportunity to participate in the 5th edition of the EV4EU General Assembly in the beautiful São Miguel, Azores. Hosted by EDA, it was a fantastic two-day event filled with insightful discussions about the project's status, engaging workshops, and strategic planning for our next steps.   We're now entering a critical phase of the project, with all four #V2X demonstrators in Portugal, Greece, Denmark, and Slovenia gearing up for the analysis and monitoring phase. It's all hands on deck as we prepare and install the necessary equipment and establish the required architectures.   Over the past two years, we've made significant progress, developing smart charging algorithms that incorporate V2X features. These offer grid services such as mitigating grid congestion and minimising wind curtailment, all in coordination with renewable generation. We've also developed an architecture to handle the complexity of numerous data sources and near-real-time operation, while also combining forecasts for the following day.   But let's not forget the heart of our project - the users. Their experience is crucial to the success of these new services and technologies, and we're committed to ensuring they're at the forefront of our efforts.   One of the highlights of the General Assembly was the opportunity to visit the Portuguese Demo site at the EDA premises. 📜 A New #EV4EU Paper was published in the journal Energies: "A Case Study on Electric Vehicles as Nationwide Battery Storage to Meet Slovenia’s Final Energy Consumption with Solar Energy" ! Congratulations to all the #EV4EU researchers involved from the University of Ljubljana: Igor Mendek, Tim Marentič, Matej Zajc and Klara Anžur 👏 🔎 In this study, the Slovenian team from UL investigated the potential of a nationwide energy infrastructure that relies solely on solar energy and #EV batteries as a storage solution to bridge periods of overproduction with periods of high energy demand.
