An epidemic rages and the drugs are needed; plus they have been insured for a large amount. He goes to Manila with no clues and tricks the thieves into coming to him. He winds up a prisoner of oddball Mortar McCoy - an American deserter who runs a band of brigands. Scott, though a captive, directs the activity in such fashion as to be in a position to buy back the drugs. He uses valueless Invasion Currency to buy the drugs and gets out just ahead of death.
