Roosevelt Island Historic District


The Theodore Roosevelt Island National Memorial Historic District was listed as a DC Historic Site in 1964. It was placed on the National Register in 1966 and named a National Monument in 2001.  Three separate periods of significance are listed:  1749-1833, John Mason; 1864-1865, Civil War; and 1931-to listing as a National Memorial to President Theodore Roosevelt.
