(Source: https://lnkd.in/gR-7QCfz) Key findings from this survey that caught our attention: 👉 62% of patients feel healthcare support has stagnated or worsened in the past year 👉 23% struggle with navigating multiple departments for simple tasks like scheduling appointments 👉 51% believe AI will enhance their patient experience within a year 👉 60% of Millennials are particularly optimistic about AI's potential in healthcare What's driving this trend towards AI acceptance? 🤔 ⚖️ Judgment-free interactions – Half of the respondents appreciate that AI chatbots don't judge them when discussing sensitive health issues 😷 Patient-paced communication – A third value that chatbots don't rush them or make them feel stupid ⚡ Efficiency – Patients anticipate administrative improvements and streamlined processes with AI integration However, it's crucial to note that 80% of patients still prefer medical advice from human physicians. This highlights an important balance: while AI can significantly improve administrative tasks and initial interactions, the human touch remains irreplaceable in medical care.👨🏻⚕️ As we continue to innovate in healthcare AI, it's essential to focus on enhancing patient experiences while maintaining the crucial human element in medical care. Are we making progress in healthcare #interoperability? 🏥💻 The latest KLAS Research Arch Collaborative report offers some sobering insights. Based on feedback from over 500,000 clinicians, this comprehensive study sheds light on the current state of health information exchange. Despite government mandates for #EHR interoperability dating back to 2004, clinicians' data integration needs are still unmet. ⛔ Key findings from the #report: 👉 Only 44% of respondents agree their EHR provides expected integration with outside organizations 👉 47% of clinicians can't quickly find important patient information from external sources 👉 Another 47% report having to sift through duplicated data The study, which included responses from over 33,000 #clinicians about their experience with external patient data, underscores the ongoing need for improved interoperability solutions. ⭐ Physicians report interoperability as their top fix request, citing difficulties in accessing and leveraging external patient data within their EHR systems. However, it's not all bad news ☀️ The report identifies 17 organizations where 70% or more of clinicians agree that external integration meets their needs. From these success stories, KLAS compiled five key steps to enhance health data interoperability 1️⃣ Commit to sharing data through governance, resource allocation, and strategic planning 2️⃣ Collaborate closely with core sharing partners 3️⃣ Focus on key health measures for shared populations 4️⃣ Elevate end-user EHR awareness and proficiency through targeted training 5️⃣ Involve EHR vendors to optimize data-sharing settings and standardization One exciting finding is the impact of training on perceived interoperability success. The New Problem with Patient Portals 🛠️ In our previous post about technology in healthcare, we have written about the growing trend of patient portal adoption, with both patients and providers increasingly embracing this technology 💪 While we believe that patient portals are a positive development, they sometimes present new challenges – and no, it's not about outdated design or lack of certain features - that's already perfectly described in Thomas Caldera's post 👉 https://lnkd.in/gqu-psmr. The main problem is that more and more patients, especially those with complex conditions, are managing multiple patient portals 🖥️ 🖥️ It's obvious when you think about it. People with diseases that require long-term treatment, see different specialists and undergo tests in different facilities. ❗ As a result, they have to manage more patient portals! Statistics prove it - 59% of cancer patients have more than one portal, compared to 43% of people without cancer. Of course, more specialists means more patient portals, so managing your own medical data becomes a serious problem. Especially since these services are often not connected in any way. This also affects people who want to change their healthcare provider, as transferring data from one system to another can be problematic: 👉 According to @Accenture, up to 30% of people will have changed doctors by 2021 👉 A significant number of Americans (29%) encounter issues when switching doctors due to medical record transfers. This fragmentation creates a significant burden for patients and healthcare providers alike 🏥 🚨 The lack of interoperability between systems means that critical information can be dispersed across multiple platforms, making it difficult to obtain a comprehensive view of a patient's health. As healthcare technology evolves, we must prioritize #interoperability to ensure seamless information sharing and improved patient care.
