Day 25 of ABC Series of Sustainability: Y for Youth Empowerment 🌱 Youth are the torchbearers of a sustainable future. In Pakistan, the youth population makes up 70% of the total population. With their energy, creativity, and innovation, they can drive change toward sustainability. However, to unlock their potential, it is essential to invest in education, skills, and leadership training focused on green jobs, climate action, and social entrepreneurship.🪴 According to a 2023 report by the UNDP, Pakistan needs to create 4.5 million jobs annually to absorb its growing workforce. By integrating sustainable practices into industries and entrepreneurship, young people can lead the shift towards a green economy, contributing to the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Moreover, programs such as the Pakistan Youth Climate Network and initiatives by the Ministry of Climate Change are crucial platforms where youth can take part in decision-making processes on climate policies. Globally, youth-led climate movements like Fridays for Future are making waves, with over 14 million young people across 7,500 cities demanding urgent climate action. Pakistan’s youth are already part of this global narrative, with rising participation in forums like COP and local climate action drives, proving that they are not just the future but the present of sustainable solutions. Empowering youth with the tools and opportunities to act is key to a resilient and sustainable Pakistan. Standing at the UN podium is a moment I’ll never forget. I spoke about the slow progress on the SDGs under Agenda 2030. I proudly represented AIESEC & Pakistan at the Asia Pacific Summit. We tackled how SDG 1 affects developing countries. The side events I attended highlighted global efforts in action. Economic and social issues took center stage in the discussions. Climate change initiatives were a major focus. Networking with passionate individuals inspired me. I left feeling more motivated to make a bigger impact. My speech was even featured on UN Web TV. This exposure gave me fresh perspectives. It showed me how much work we still need to do. Working together is essential to achieving these goals. Seeing global commitment up close was eye-opening. It reinforced my belief in the power of collective action. Each conversation added something new to my understanding. Overall, this experience shifted my perspective. P.S.
