🌟 German Ambassador Visits PGFRC in Lahore 🌟 We were pleased to welcome the German Ambassador, Mr Alfred Grannas, accompanied by the Head of Development Cooperation, Dr. Sebastian Paust, and First Secretary, Ms. Janine Rohwer, to the Pakistan-German Facilitation and Reintegration Centre (PGFRC) in Lahore. The centre serves as a vital resource hub for individuals seeking employment or career opportunities abroad, as well as for returnees needing local support for social and economic reintegration. During their visit, the delegation toured the centre, learning about our dedicated services to support both potential migrants and returnees. The visit featured a presentation highlighting our services and measures for supporting regular migration for work and education, regional migration, and socioeconomic reintegration. Ambassador Grannas also met with two project beneficiaries, Fizza Irum and Faisal Farooq, who participated in our front desk training. 📢 Major update from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa - Inclusion of women members has been made mandatory in the structure of Primary Care Management Committees (PCMCs). 💯 PCMCs are crucial for community engagement with healthcare providers. They possess financial and decision-making authority that enable immediate changes within health facilities. However, the lack of women representation in these committees had been a significant gap. On behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), #GIZPakistan is working with the Department of Health and the Commissionerate for Afghan Refugees (CAR) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to improve access to health services for urban Afghan refugees, vulnerable groups, and host communities. Through targeted advocacy and pilot initiatives in Kohat, Peshawar, and Nowshera, we successfully demonstrated the impact of including women as honorary members in PCMCs. This evidence-based approach led to the Department of Health's decision to make women inclusion structural and mandatory. Key Impacts 👇 ➡ 2,863 women members will be added to PCMCs across 2,460 primary care facilities and 134 hospitals. ➡ Women members will have decision-making and voting power, ensuring women's health needs are prioritised. ➡ Increased community engagement. This change represents a significant step towards gender equity and improved healthcare access. Creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for all! 💯 🤝 On behalf of the German development cooperation, we hosted kick-off workshops with key government departments of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to discuss and agree on the process for institutionalising standardised Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) services into their existing organisational structures. 🗣 It was remarkable to engage with representatives from the Departments of Health, Social Welfare, Elementary and Secondary Education and Sports and Youth Affairs to understand their visions and current practices concerning MHPSS services. Together, we identified challenges and opportunities for improving and standardising MHPSS service delivery, referral and information management systems. 🔎 One of the next steps is to form working groups to develop a position paper on standardised MHPSS services for vulnerable groups jointly with all important stakeholders and government institutions. 🎯 From Ideas to Impact: At the Diversity and Inclusion Ideathon 2024, organised with the support of the German Development Cooperation, 1️⃣9️⃣ textile factories presented their innovative cross-organisational ideas in the fields of diversity, inclusion, and employment, and showcased their commitment to driving positive change.   Out of the many innovative presentations, 1️⃣3️⃣ unique solutions showcasing the best cross-organisational collaboration and innovative thinking were selected. These solutions will be supported through our Communities of Practice platform with the aim of fostering knowledge exchange, collaboration, and co-action among industries. 📚 Parent Teacher Council (PTC) is an initiative by the government to enhance school environments through active community participation. It empowers the schools to transparently use funds and directly address their needs. The PTC is driving educational development at the grassroots level. Its mission encompasses oversight, school support, social accountability, gender-responsive education, and improved educational outcomes. On behalf of the German development cooperation, #GIZPakistan, in close collaboration with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Elementary and Secondary Education Department and the office of the Education Minister, organised a consultative session to review the 2013 and 2022 Parent Teacher Council guidelines.   So why revise its guidelines❓ ➡ The guidelines require a comprehensive review to align with recent policy changes and educational advancements. ➡ With over 35,000 schools under the Elementary and Secondary Education Department, this revision will incorporate lessons learned, address existing challenges, and enhance the PTCs' capacity to effectively plan and utilise funds, ensuring better educational outcomes across the province.   👥 Together, we are fostering a transparent, accountable, and effective educational environment for our children. #SanitationForMillions #SafeSanitation #WASH #Hygiene #ChangeAgents Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ)

🛡️ Building Resilience in Southern Punjab's Flood-Prone Areas 🌾 The Punjab Rural Support Programme, with the support of the German Development Cooperation, recently conducted vital trainings on livestock management during heat waves and floods. In the flood-prone union councils of Kot Addu, 49 livestock keepers, including 30 women, participated in these sessions. For many female participants, it was their first-ever opportunity to attend a capacity-building event on livestock. 🌟Stakeholder Engagement for Women Empowerment 👩💼 🧵 The German Development Cooperation recently collaborated with SAP-Pakistan and Sudhaar Society to hold a stakeholder engagement event for women employment in Karachi. This event marked a pivotal step towards driving gender-equitable and inclusive development in Pakistan's textile and fashion industry. 🔍 We brought together representatives from the public and private sectors, textile and fashion industry, academia, NGOs, CSOs, and more. This year’s theme "Youth Skills for Peace and Development," is all about recognising the crucial role young people play in building a future worth living.  🎓🚀 At GIZ Pakistan, we’re strongly committed to empowering our youth! That is why we, on behalf of Team Europe and the German government, support the transformation of Pakistan’s technical and vocational education and training (TVET) landscape. Our commitment also extends to boosting decent work opportunities in high-tech and green sectors. Through this, we aim to expand our impact.
