Add new namespaces to hsb.wiktionary.org
Open, In Progress, Needs TriagePublic

Description

I would like to request a creation of few namespaces on hsb.wiktionary.org:

ID 100: Přidawk
ID 101: Diskusija k přidawkej
ID 106: Rymy
ID 107: Diskusija k rymam
ID 110: Tezawrus
ID 110: Diskusija k tezawrusej
ID 114: Citaty
ID 115: Diskusija k citatam
ID 118: Rekonstrukcija
ID 119: Diskusija k rekonstrukciji

I would also like to ask for a shortcut "WS" (= Wikisłownik) work like "WT" (= Wiktionary), as project is called Wikisłownik.

Local discussion:
There is no discussion as project is dead and I'm trying to revive it. There are also no admins, I got admin and interface adming rights today. I need these namespaces as these are required for the system I'm importing from en.wikt.

In the case of a very small and low-activity community, it should be enough to show that you have tried to gain consensus, and that you have given an opportunity for objections.

But there is no community.

Hi @Slawobog, Open a discussion and leave the discussion open for a good period of time, like a month or more, So as to allow any opportunity for objections.

You are free to discuss the general guidelines on the wiki Talk page. This Phabricator task is not the right place for such a discussion.

2 weeks ago I started a vote for administrator https://hsb.wiktionary.org/wiki/Wikisłownik:Požadanje_statusa_administratora#Sławobóg and since then noone voted because there is noone there. Once per few weeks there is random user adding esperanto lemma. Why are you asking me to ask non-existing community about anything? Why do I have wait one month for templates to work? There is no point in this red tape for? Also, I am the only administrator https://hsb.wiktionary.org/wiki/Specialnje:Wužiwarjo?username=&group=sysop&wpsubmit=&wpFormIdentifier=mw-listusers-form&limit=50.

@Slawobog Because it's a general requirement for all wikis per https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Requesting_wiki_configuration_changes#How_to_request_a_change . If you want to discuss those requirements for all wikis, then this Phabricator task for hsb.wiktionary is not the right place to discuss it, but meta would be.

I think it's OK to go forward with this and not classify it as "blocked on community consensus". I know another Slavic language and the names look reasonable to me. Since there are no other participants in hsb.wiktionary and @Slawobog appears to be an OK contributor, I'd just assume good faith.

Change #1090502 had a related patch set uploaded (by Srishakatux; author: Srishakatux):

[operations/mediawiki-config@master] Add new namespaces to hsb wiktionary

https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/1090502

Thank you @Amire80 and @srishakatux. I forgot about that I just wanted to start a thread. Since it's almost done, can I also ask for shortcut "Kat:" for "Category:", "P:" for "Předłoha:/Template:" and "RK:" for "Rekonstrukcija:/Reconstruction:" (like "Cat:", "T:" and "RC" on en.wikt)? I forgot to mention that in original post. I hope it's not too much trouble.

Thanks @Slawobog! Made the requested change. @Amire80 will review it soon.

I'm a little concerned that Kat might conflict with BCP 47 language tag in the future.

I'm a little concerned that Kat might conflict with BCP 47 language tag in the future.

That shouldn't be a blocker given {{#langlink:}} magic word has been added.

Also kat is the ISO 639-3 code for Georgian, except Wikimedia uses the ISO 639-2 code ka instead so there's no conflict.

Despite what @Nikerabbit and @Pppery write, I'm quite concerned about adding more namespace names that conflict with language codes.

I think we tech people should try not to override communities unless there's a really good reason for it. There isn't here, just some vague concerns that aren't actually valid for two reasons.
