Originally reported at T163114#6951058 but that seems like a different cause and is a very old issue.
On at least dewp when using Timeless, related articles show at the bottom of the page (See https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stern?useskin=timeless). I can't reproduce this in Vector (legacy skin)

Not sure, but I think it's been going on for years, many months at least. I just never bothered to report the issue until now.
Can you ask them? There's a big difference between years and today. Not sure what in the last 24 hours could have caused it given yesterday should have been no deploys.
The community on german wikipedia as I recall were okay with having this on mobile but not desktop. There was no decision ever around Timeless which came /after/ RelatedArticles (there was no TImeless in May 2017 (T155079) when RelatedArticles shipped, Timeless was shipped in Nov 2017 - T154371)
That aside, see https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:RelatedArticles#Configuration for how to disable on specific skins, this is a configuration change and nothing to do with either RelatedArticles or Timeless. The community just needs to approve the configuration change and make it happen.
Users wishing to use the feature can always add mw.loader.using('ext.relatedArticles.readMore.bootstrap'); to their common.js if they don't like whatever the default is.
